Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Reverie Sat Aug 25, 2018 4:55 am

1963. Herefordshire, England.

Deep within the lush greenery of the vale of Llancalon stands an old and proud community, hidden away from chaos of urban life. This small enclave, the parish of Little Rosebury, represents the finest and most wealthy population for miles in every direction. Most families that have settled between its beautiful gardens and winding country roads are well-known names, stretching back centuries, their bloodlines having cemented deep divisions and coffers alike.

Every Sunday morning, the ordained minister holds a service for all who want to be there or wish to be seen there. The postman does his rounds each day and the butcher waves as he rides past. In such a tiny place, keeping to yourself is all but impossible. Furthermore, to most influential people and names of note, power does not stop at displays of wealth and a comfortable home for generations to come. Power is made though lavish parties, social stratagems, and iron determination. Every penny and acre represents a person who has everything to lose.

Despite this frivolous game between inhabitants of a quiet battlefield, something much bigger is at stake. None of the town’s inhabitants know it just yet but their lives are naught more than constructs. Only when the curtain is lifted and the truth made clear will life truly begin again.

***

Hi there, this is your GM. Any will be playing co-GM whilst the roleplay is in session.

This is something of an AU RP, but with a twist waiting in the wings. The maximum number of characters per person is three. You may pick any character from an established setting but this is the catch: this will work much better if you prepare to bring your character in with a partner or two from the same setting. This will result in blocs of characters with shared settings who will show chemistry together. To begin with, these characters will not remember anything from their true pasts, but this leads to some interesting questions. How will these characters’ relationships change as their identities are rewritten?

Realistically, you can pick any role you want. Will your character be a socialite, a baker, or a butler? So long as it fits in with the environment of Little Rosebury, go for it.

For now, here is what you need to know. The three main families are set up in Harrington Hall, Lindcroft Manor, and Bellevue Heights. These residences are within ten minutes of one another by foot and a winding river cuts through them each in turn. The town centre is close, partly placed upon the slope of a hill, and boasts every kind of small business you might expect from a community in the middle of nowhere. Right within the middle of this area is a large roundabout, paved cleanly and furnished with an ornate statue.

Rules:

1. Obvious forum rules, e.g. don’t be a godmodding jerk.
2. Your character must be well-established and human-looking, even if this appearance is false. If you wanna play Donkey Kong, that’s great for you but give him a human appearance. A character’s new name should fit in too. Make an effort to pick characters with someone else so you have at least one other character from the same setting. I’m holding off on OCs.
3. Don’t post with a character until said character is accepted.
4. I can’t think of any more rules.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Aliucon Sat Aug 25, 2018 6:49 am

Name: Masayoshi Shido
Age: 53
Original media: Persona 5
Picture: Here. Wait, fuck, no, actually HERE.
Abilities: A charismatic and skillful manipulator, very used to pulling all ends to his advantage. Has a few servants playing his badass theme songs at most times.

Bio: Shido is a politician of great influence with big ambitions and few scruples. Using his power and connections, he kickstarts a conspiracy in order to seize complete power as the Prime Minister of Japan. In this, he's aided also by Goro Akechi, his illegitimate son that has the power to turn people psychotic, and they create an unsteady alliance for Shido to eventually reach power, with Akechi acting as hitman for over 2 years. As the threat of a change of heart from the Phantom Thieves grows near, he orders Akechi to infiltrate their ranks and get rid of them, but things might not have gone fully according to plan.

New identity: Mason Sherrington, the 14th Earl of Llancalon, was brought up to be a strong and influential nobleman by his parents. With nothing but land and money being valued in his life, either by his peers or parents, he single-mindedly pursued those things; results being that his family, based on Lindcroft Manor, is one of the most recognized and respected in the area, especially in Little Rosebury. While he enjoys a lavish lifestyle, his age eventually calls into question the fact he has no (legitimate) heir. He solves the problem quite methodically: by having the house of an old spouse burn down and taking the son under his wing, on a move that'd appear benevolent and garner support while suppressing the whole issue from the public's mind, all the while keeping under his wing someone he has leverage on by default. The only aspect he did not predict was his son getting engaged and solidifying his staying power, when he was quite disposable otherwise; but Mason, being an adaptive and shrewd bastard like he is, already considers ways of suppressing that too.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Giggles Sun Aug 26, 2018 12:26 am

Name: Judge Claude Frollo
Age: 40s, at least.
Original Media: The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney canon)
Picture: Here
Abilities: Connections to law enforcement, but nothing supernatural.

Bio (Thanks wikipedia): Frollo is a ruthless, self-righteous religious fanatic who seeks to annihilate "heathen" who "live outside the natural order." He accidentally kills a woman, and fearing vengeance from above, keeps her child to be raised in the bell tower of Notre Dame. About 20 years later, he meets a woman named Esmeralda, and, uh... Well, he likes her in a very, very bad way. Like a "burn down all of Paris because he can't have her" kind of way. Frollo uses his position to commit horrible acts, and doesn't really have any redeeming qualities outside of a fantastic set of pipes.

New identity: Sgt. Claudius Sullivan was always a lawful man. He saw even the smallest classroom rule as an absolute, and something to be obeyed but never questioned. He would turn in those who broke the rules, leading to a stronger relationship with those above him in authority than his peers. This worldview persisted as he grew, and now that he is an older man in a position of authority, he expects everyone to see the world as he does. He rarely does the actual work assigned to him unless it is absolutely necessary, preferring to delegate the serving of warrants and such to the people beneath him. He tries to present himself as an absolute moral center, the kind of person that is in church every Sunday, always near the front. He always makes a point of attending community gatherings, putting on a smile, and socializing with the higher-ups in town, despite his true, dark thoughts about the people around them. Fond of fireplaces.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by General Tommy Sun Aug 26, 2018 3:34 am

Name: Shadow the Hedgehog
Age: ??? (At least 50)
Original media: Sonic the Hedgehog
Picture: His normal appearance.  Not going dumpster-diving on the internet for a humanized Shadow, no sir.
Abilities: Shadow the Hedgehog is most famous for his ability to manipulate Chaos Powers.  Most of these require possession of at least one Chaos Emerald to wield, but take a variety of forms.  The three most famous Chaos Powers Shadow wields are Chaos Spear (a ranged energy projectile, can easily be used without a Chaos Emerald), Chaos Control (a time-warping power, commonly used to stop time), and Chaos Blast (a 10-yard wide explosion of energy).  It is possible for Shadow to wield Chaos Control and Chaos Blast without a Chaos Emerald, but the only method for him to access these powers is to take on his Hero or Dark Forms, temporary transformations achieved via an excess of good or evil deeds, respectively.  When in either of these forms, Shadow is immune to harm and even has unlimited ammunition for whatever gun he's using at the time, but that is neither here nor there.

However, these three are not Shadow's sole powers.  Shadow can also use "Chaos Heal", sort of a variant on Chaos Control to selectively reverse time and negate injuries.  Shadow is also extremely fast on his feet, largely thanks to his Air Shoes.  These shoes he wears allows him to effectively "skate" over the ground at such high speeds that he is able to keep up with his rival Sonic the Hedgehog (and may actually be faster than him, depending on what sources you believe).  Shadow can also use Boost to move at speeds almost in excess of the sound barrier.  On an unrelated note, it may be possible that Shadow is biologically immortal owing to his origins.  If nothing else, he is certainly immune to disease, and definitely ages slower than his companions.

For more mundane powers, Shadow has demonstrated the ability to flip a bus over with one hand, showing high levels of superhuman strength.  Whether or not this is relevant in the long run is another story.
Bio: Created as the Ultimate Life Form by Professor Gerald Robotnik, Shadow the Hedgehog was intended to be a way to develop a cure for Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik.  The Professor, as Shadow calls him, was never able to figure out how to accomplish this task, with his last attempt, the Biolizard, being horribly flawed as a creature.  It was only thanks to Black Doom, leader of the Black Arms aliens, giving the Professor his DNA, that Gerald succeeded in creating Shadow the Hedgehog.

Shadow quickly bonded with Maria and they became close friends, but the Professor's experiments caught the ears of the Guardian of United Nations, or GUN for short.  GUN sent in soldiers to eliminate everyone on the Space Colony ARK by any means necessary.  Shadow attempted to flee with Maria, but they were spotted by the soldiers, and Maria was shot.  In her last moments, she sent Shadow down to Earth via a capsule, and Shadow alone survived the purge of the ARK.

Captured by GUN and locked away in a military base, Shadow was left forgotten by all, until Dr. Ivo Robotnik, also known as Dr. Eggman, uncovered his grandfather's work and unleashed Shadow, hoping to finally conquer the world.  Shadow informed Eggman of the ARK's Eclipse Cannon, a weapon intended to destroy the Black Comet, as the Professor never really agreed with Black Doom's motives (that is to say, turning humanity into food for his army) and intended to backstab the Black Arms aliens all along.  Shadow had his own motives: Destroy the humans who took Maria away from him, by using the Eclipse Cannon to blow up the Earth.  However, Amy Rose convinced Shadow to back down from this plan, and together with Sonic, Shadow defeated the Biolizard Prototype, used Chaos Control to warp the falling ARK back into orbit, and then fell to his ultimate demise...or so it was thought.

Unknown to everyone, Dr. Eggman had one of his robots salvage Shadow's body, and found that he was still alive, albeit barely.  Putting him in a stasis pod and creating an army of Shadow Androids, Eggman left E-123 Omega behind to guard Shadow's prison, as Omega was the greatest of the E-100 series by far.  Sadly, Omega didn't see it that way, and grew resentful of the Doctor, but that's a story for another time.

After Shadow was released from his pod by Rouge, it was uncovered that Shadow lost all of his memories.  The only things he remembered were his name, and the image of Maria's death, forever burned into his mind.  Much later, the Black Arms returned, and Black Doom attempted to convince Shadow to get the Chaos Emeralds.  Shadow, knowing that Black Doom understood his past, set out to get the Emeralds, after which he realized everything about his past.  Facing down his technical father in a bloody showdown for the fate of the Earth, Shadow defeated Black Doom, warped the Black Comet to space, and the comet was destroyed by the Eclipse Cannon, fulfilling the Professor's last wish.
After that, Shadow joined GUN as an agent, and continued to work to protect the Earth, fulfilling Maria's wish of helping the world that she loved so much.  His past no longer haunts him, and he has become a true hero.
New identity: The police officer known only as "Shadow" is a mysterious man.  Few know his past or origins, and Shadow himself tends not to speak about it.  What is known is that he is loyal to his superiors, extremely capable, and also very dedicated to bringing in crooks. Most of the office likes to joke about how edgy Shadow comes off as, but Shadow tends not to care that much.  He does his job, and he does it well.  If he comes off as edgy, so be it. He'll be the one bringing in the crooks in the end.

Name: Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik
Age: ???
Original media: Sonic the Hedgehog
Picture: Here ya go
Abilities: 300 IQ with a Ph.D in Robotics.  Surprisingly capable military commander, and very good at piloting his own mechs.  He may or may not have superhuman strength (he's classified as a Power character), and has on more than one occasion outran Classic Sonic (if he has a few seconds headstart, though he probably can't outrun Modern Sonic).
Bio: Funnily enough I once did a whole essay on how I think Eggman's origins went.  We're never given the answer in the games and Eggman deliberately dodged the question when asked on the Sonic Twitter Takeover Event.  If you feel like reading that ancient post, here it is.  I stand by most of what I say in that post, though I will have to add an addendum to it saying that Eggman is actually extremely competent as a military commander, since once Sonic was taken out of the equation Eggman conquered 99.9% of the world in a span of a few weeks.  The only reason why he didn't win by now is because he just can't hit that damn hedgehog.
New identity: The owner of Eggman Robotics, Inc., Dr. Robotnik, referred to as "Eggman" by most, is someone who develops the latest and greatest technology, his foundries constantly churning out new devices and inventions intended to make everyone's lives easier.  While specializing in robotics, the Doctor makes certain to invest in new trends in technology and give them the trademark Eggman spin to it all.  He's become a very rich man as a result of this fact.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by DimitriBarronmore Sun Aug 26, 2018 4:02 am

Name: Silver the Hedgehog
Age: 14
Original media: Sonic
Life’s Great Mysteries Silver.the.Hedgehog.full.580045

Abilities: As a talented psychic, a skill well-trained by his combat with the creature Iblis, Silver's main ability is that to pick up and manipulate objects from distances. Using this ability he can lift himself and others in the air, an ability he uses to fly at just below Mach 1, bend steel bars into knots, throw objects (and people) with ballistic trajectories, and potentially carry weights adding up to several tons, all so long as he's able to focus on what he's moving. Other notable ESP-related skills include throwing punches able to paralyze opponents and forming knife blades of psychic energy. Like most hedgehogs, he is additionally able to move very quickly on his feet and empower his other abilities using Chaos energy.

Bio: Hailing from several centuries in the future, Silver has a habit of using Chaos energy to travel to the past in attempts to improve the future. Unfortunately he's often less than helpful due to his own naivety and lack of social talent, each of which lend to overall gullibility. But despite him sometimes heading in the wrong direction, few people begrudge the cheerful company of the kindhearted and determined hedgehog.

New identity:
Life’s Great Mysteries POUC3eB

Silver Needles is known around Little Rosebury for two things: packing and unpacking loads heading in, out, and around the village, and vocally disliking his own name. One of the younger working residents, Silver has put his habitual determination to use convincing nearby adults to trust him with transporting fresh produce and other odd jobs, and currently lives with the owner of the local grocers, the main focus of his item-loading occupation. What most people outside the grocers don't realize without some thought is that the kid happens to be the only member of the Needles family within a number of miles. It's unclear whether he's an orphan or his family simply left him behind for one reason or another, and as the boy actively avoids speaking about them the secret will likely never come out.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Jessica Ilha Mon Aug 27, 2018 12:30 am

Name: Kirigiri Kyouko (霧切響子)
Age: 13
Original media: Dangan Ronpa Kirigiri (yep, her spin-off)
Picture: have a cute Loligiri

Abilities: as the Ultimate Detective, Kyouko possesses ultimate deduction skills, specially for someone so young as her. Her DSC (Detective Shelf Classification) number is, up to today, 915, which means she's a detective specialised in solving murder cases, specially the ones which fall into the "impossible crimes" category, and is rank 5 out of 9. Yeah, pretty low for a Ultimate Detective, but her novels will keep going for a while, so...

Bio: Kyouko is the heir for the Kirigiri Family, a well-known family of skilled detectives. Despite her father Jin's hatred for the family's profession, Kyouko began her training with her grandfather Fuhito when she was only seven. Kyouko's mother died shortly after, due to an illness, but Kyouko wasn't allowed to bid her farewell - Kyouko and her grandfather were abroad and, despite knowing she could never see her mother again, she was taught that "a detective puts their work above everything, including family". When Kyouko turned 13, Fuhito encouraged her to enlist in the Detective Library, so she could have an official recording of all her solved cases from that day on. So Kyouko chose her specialty field (impossible murder crimes) and received her number - 919. One week later, Kyouko found herself into her first Duel Noir, and, despite not being the assigned detective, ranked up to 917 upon solving the murders. It took a few months and some more Duel Noirs to bring Kyouko to DSC number 915, but her potential can bring her even higher.

New identity: Charlotte Fogg is the youngest daughter of Arthur Fogg, the man who used to run the local library. Arthur, however, left his home after the death of his spouse, Angela Fogg, leaving his daughters to keep the family's library on their own. Charlotte spends most of her time inside the library, due to her unusual genetic condition: she has Alexandria's Genesis, which made her hair and eyes purple, and which also made her skin to be paler than healthy. But that doesn't trouble little Lotte - as long as she has her books and her sister Ariana, everything would be fine.

Name: Samidare Yui (五月雨結)
Age: 16
Original media: Dangan Ronpa Kirigiri
Picture: here

Abilities: Yui could have been the Ultimate Jumper due to her strong legs and amazing jumping skills, but (luckily) she refused to enter Hope's Peak. She's also a detective, with DSC number, up to today, 886. That means she's a detective specialised in solving crimes involving freedom, specially the ones involving kidnapping, and is rank 6 out of 9. Her rank, however, has being going up due to Kyouko's efforts - poor Yui can't solve murder cases on her own even if her life is on the stake (and believe me when I say her life has been on the stake for a few times now).

Bio: At a young age, Yui's younger sister was kidnapped, but the criminal was never found... Neither could her sister be saved. Grieving and strongly wishing to never let that happen to anyone else, Yui decided to become a detective, specialised in solving kidnapping crimes, with DSC number 889. Yui even refused to join the infamous Hope's Peak Academy, in order to pursue her dream of being a skilled detective. She struggled for two years, but she only reached DSC number 888. That, although, was enough to make her the assigned detective to a Duel Noir. Not knowing what was in store for her, she heard the voice of the Black... Only to find out she wasn't witted enough to solve anything. However, a young girl tossed into the same situation had the brains Yui was lacking - that girl was Kirigiri Kyouko, a middle schooler detective. Yui and Kyouko solved their first case (and first Duel Noir, for that matter) together, resulting in Yui's number rising to 887. About three months later, even if her detective skills hadn't been of much use, she reached number 886. Yui and Kyouko developed a good friendship, to the point where Yui thinks of Kyouko as her young sister (perhaps as a substitute for the one she lost...).

New identity: Ariana Fogg is the eldest daughter of Arthur Fogg, and has the responsibility of taking care not only of her family's library, but also of her young sister Charlotte. She'd do virtually anything to protect Charlotte from every single thing that could harm her. She also has to endure the societies' questions about her sister's condition, how the hell two children will be able to mantain themselves without an adult around and when will she marry herself into someone's family to save her own family... But as long as she has her little sister Lotte, everything would be fine.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Giggles Mon Aug 27, 2018 12:54 am

Name: Angie Yonaga
Age: 16 / 17
Original Media: Danganronpa V3
Picture: Life’s Great Mysteries Angie_10
Abilities: Ultimate Artist, Claims to be an oracle of the god Atua, and has some sort of weird brainwashing / information gathering thing going on. Shown to know people's desired traits of a god without them ever voicing them.

Bio (Thanks danganronpa wiki): "Angie originates from an island in the center of the ocean where people worship Atua, the God of the Island. The island is described as a paradise. It used to be large, but natural disasters made it smaller. It is overflowing with nature, though some plants are known to attack people, as a result, they are unsure if they even are plants. The locals also have lots of unusual customs, some of them quite unsettling. Notably, they give non-fatal blood sacrifices for their god using human blood, with a sacrifice truck coming around on Mondays and Wednesdays. The locals also use a mail order website called DeepSea to order things like their favorite magazines, food, clothes, medicine, organ meat, blood, and even children. Apparently, this website has improved the everyday lives of the island inhabitants significantly.
Angie is a very spiritual person, believing that Atua is always at her side. She has a pious heart and likes praying, having a very strong faith in her god, and she is very willing to help and assist other people with spiritual matters. She often searches for things to offer as blood sacrifices and somewhat creepily talks about her need for blood and asks other students to offer her some. She also has a habit of speaking on behalf of Atua and strangely these words can sometimes turn out to be very truthful. She always puts herself before others, and while she can mean well and fully believes in her religion, she can use it to manipulate others to do things for her, claiming it's what Atua wants and people get punished if they don't obey.

New identity: Angelica Granger is the town's vicar, performing church services on Sundays and encouraging all to attend. She is not a native of England, and as such, speaks quite oddly. However, she is earnest in her religious pursuits and accepts all who would come to her table. She spends her free time painting and sculpting, and often claims that divine intervention led her art to be as beautiful as it is. Angelica really would prefer it if everyone in the town was as devout and pious as she was, and sees large social functions as a way to recruit some of the less holy into her ranks.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Reverie Mon Aug 27, 2018 10:46 am

Both accepted. I'll just pop this in right there.

Name: Kaede Akamatsu (赤松 楓)
Age: 16 / 17 ( ? )
Original media: Danganronpa V3
Picture: I think this is the source, idk, I tried hard
Abilities: As the Ultimate Pianist, Kaede displays the talent one would expect from such a prodigy and her enhanced hearing is put to use on more than one occasion. Furthermore, the tragedy of her circumstances reveals a shrewd investigative streak in Kaede.
Bio: [REDACTED]
New identity: Caitlyn Arthurson, known affectionately as Katie, is a regular member of Angelica’s congregation and an old friend to boot. The two of them were in the same class in high school, though Katie is now spending the summer preparing for a change of pace after taking exams at the local sixth form college, Blackwell’s Technical. When she’s not studying at the library or practising extra-curricular activities, she helps her family out at the music store in town, keeping track of stock and making use of the many thousand-pound perks on display.
Despite her love for music and natural talent for the piano, Katie’s father is in incredible debt and her mother has repeatedly pushed her to go into a more “progressive and profitable” field, such as engineering or science, rather than pursue her passions as her father once did. As such, Katie is waiting to hear back from back from her chosen universities with somewhat limited excitement.
Katie has grown apart from the friends she made in school, for the most part, and she attended prom with a close friend rather than get involved with the spectacle and stress of attempting to find a date. That said, she is sometimes oblivious to the way people around her actually feel, regardless of her kind, well-meaning, and empathetic nature.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Reverie Tue Aug 28, 2018 1:16 pm

Behind the faded, mossy walls of Lindcroft Manor, a young lady in a brightly-coloured frock trudged her equally eye-catching wellington boots through waterlogged soil. Stooping right down to meet the struggling vegetation below, the edge of her skirt an inch or two off the ground, Hayley began scooping away at the soggy earth. Deep trenches gradually formed around the square mass of flora, putting a good length of flood prevention around it. Looking back mindlessly, the girl grabbed a deep red brick from behind her and placed it in the irrigation channel, as close to the outside edge as possible. A second and a third brick followed, lining up one by one, as the structure began to resemble a short wall. After layering another set of bricks on top of those, their centres furnished with large holes, Hayley set to doing the same thing with the other sides of the canal.

Eventually, her work done, the amateur gardener propped herself up and began to admire her handiwork. Honest deeds and labour put a smile on her face, despite the grim sky above. In the distance, something roared. Thunder, but not a hint of rain. Not yet anyway. Another five minutes, she hoped, would be just enough time to plant another box and get back inside before her dress got soaked.

Stepping back towards the manor, the girl hurried under the awning over the back entrance to pick up a bundle of supplies in a woven basket, mostly consisting of seed packets and tools.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Regiwi Wed Aug 29, 2018 2:53 am

Name: Gaston.
Age: Noone's as old as Gaston, or as young. (We'll say 30, idk.)
Original media: Beauty and the Beast (Disney canon)
Picture: Noone links to Wikipedia like Gaston.
Abilities: No one hits like Gaston, matches wits like Gaston, in a spitting match nobody spits like Gaston, and now that he's grown he eats five dozen eggs every morning, so he's roughly the size of a barge. No one shoots like Gaston, then goes tromping around wearing boots like Gaston! Noone uses weapons such as a Blunderbuss, his fists, a Bow and arrow, a Makeshift club and his Hunting knife like Gaston.
Bio: (Thanks to Wikipedia also.) Gaston debuted in Beauty and the Beast as an arrogant hunter who is determined to marry Belle, whom he considers to be the village's most beautiful woman. However, she refuses his proposal when he throws a wedding party without her prior knowledge. Belle is the only one in town who actually dislikes Gaston for the person he is inside. Thoroughly humiliated, he sulks, but when her father Maurice shows up saying that she has been captured by a hideous Beast, he comes up with the idea of having him thrown into an insane asylum, unless Belle agrees to marry him. His plan fails when Belle proves the Beast does exist, and she says that he is her friend, and that he is a better person than Gaston. He becomes jealous, snaps, and decides to gather a band of villagers to kill the Beast, playing off their fears that the Beast might wreak havoc on their village. As you can tell noone's a swell guy like Gaston.
New identity: Jasper is one of those guys known only by one name, since he's so famous and beloved in Little Rosebury. Coming from an old country family, he owns a horse racing track on the outskirts of town which provides a fun day out, for all of the family. Of course, he doesn't waste his time with all of the details of the day to day at the racetracks, spending most of his time in the town pub (where he has his own throne-like chair and wall which uses antlers for all of it's decorating.) That leads onto his other hobby, hunting. He enjoys hunting whatever he can, birds, beasts, fish. Of course he does all of this without fail because... he's Jasper. He'll often sell the corpses to the local butcher.

((Posting this for now, have another planned I might post later.))

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by DimitriBarronmore Wed Aug 29, 2018 3:54 am

Name: RK800 #313 248 317 - 51; "Connor"
Age: N/A
Original media: Detroit: Become Human
My name is Connor. I'm the android sent by Cyberlife.

Abilities: As a prototype investigative android, Connor has a number of capabilities designed to aid him in completing his missions. Chief among these, he is able to analyze elements of a crime scene, physical and circumstantial, and feed the gathered information into a cutting-edge physical simulation program in order to mentally construct either the most likely sequence of events that would result in a known end result, or the most likely end result of a known sequence of events, the latter of which is sometimes used during negotiation and interrogation to psychologically predict an individual's actions. In addition, by "tasting" biological evidence he can analyze and identify blood types, DNA, drugs, sample age, and more (or in the case of a Cyberlife registered android, he can determine model and serial number.)
As his voice is entirely synthetic, Connor is able to mimic the voices of others with sufficient analysis.
Connor is designed to be physically matched to peak-human athletic capabilities, and is able to navigate difficult terrain and fight in unarmed combat swiftly and efficiently. In addition, while he doesn't carry weapons as part of his job, he is programmed to be accurate with firearms of all calibers up to and including .300 sniper rifles.

Bio (Thanks D:BH wiki.): Connor is a CyberLife RK-series prototype, model RK800, serial #313 248 317. He was released in August, 2038.
He is designed by the company to investigate and deal with deviant androids and assist the Detroit City Police Department therein, and was first sent out to do so in the same month he was released.

New identity: Patrick O'Donnell is a valuable member of the police force and an almost invisible personality outside of his job. After transferring to Little Rosebury from his previous job in Ireland the stoic investigator inadvertently made a name for himself by being an absolute enigma, as outside of his coworkers few people see him anywhere other than the weekly church services. Those who run into Patrick in the wild report a friendly and congenial man who doesn't seem to care what the rest of the town thinks of him, but who is nevertheless happy to extend a warm greeting and a short, awkward conversation about recent events before returning to what he was previously doing. However, those who watch him in his professional habitats, investigation, interrogation, and negotiation, may have the rare chance see him transform in the span of a breath into Detective O'Donnell, an efficient and effective man of the law to whom morals are immutable laws, yet self-emotion is a construct to manipulate others and sympathy a tool used to cut away at defense. Equally distanced from both cold and warm countenances, O'Donnell embodies the monumental feat of being as steady as a rock but as wavering as the tides, and come what may he always completes his assignments.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Shuda51 Wed Aug 29, 2018 5:08 am

Name: Capn Cuttlefish

Age: ???

Original media: Splatoon

Picture: when I get home

Abilities: Rapping. Pretty good at guard duty so long as his favorite food isnt around. Repertoire of tactical knowledge.

Bio: A veteran of the Great Turf War, the Cap'n is the warden of the Octo Valley, keeping eye out for if the Octarians ever dare to rear their heads again. He is Callie and Marie's grand dad. In game, he has assisted both Agent 3 and Agent 8, either by providing weaponry and armor, or in providing access to his old war knowledge. He can be easily distracted, though it could be assumed his time in solitude has caused this.

New identity: War Veteran Charles Cutter attempts to live a fairly quiet life, with his home in the community granted by the government in recognition of his service. Proud of his accomplishments during the great war, he lives out his post war days in relative peace, only occasionally raising a fit when those gosh darn birds ruin his perfect sunset. He serves a different order now, that of the order of books, having turned out most of his collection into the community's local library for use for those who may wish to read. He even volunteers there! In addition, he is always happy to speak at length with others, often with stories from the war and some tea and biscuits on the side.

Of course, the old captain does enjoy having thosr moments that remind him truly of the good ol' days, and in the evenings on free nights can be found either indulging in some drinking at the pub or taking the old war relics out for a bit of 'combat exercise' against the beasts that roam the countryside.
------

Name: Kyle Hyde

Age: 34

Original media: Hotel Dusk

Picture: Life’s Great Mysteries Kyle_Hyde_2_LW

Abilities: Expert reasoning and interrogation skills. Analytical mind. Good shot. Almost infinite determination. Meticulous detail keeping.

Bio: A former hard working police detective who now works for Red Crown, a special delivery service that runs normal deliveries and occasionally involves itself with special tasks. He left the force following an incident when his partner was found to be working for a criminal organization. He shot his partner, but later believed him to still be alive, and spent the next few years tracking him down. Following the incident at Hotel Dusk, he also solved an old case also repated to his past at Cape West. Due to both the incident with Bradley and a case involving his father, he is fairly anti-social, though has started to warm up in recent years and can be empathetic during some interrogations.

New identity: An American is a rare sight in a place like Little Rosebury, but that hasn't stopped Nathaniel Helms from digging his fingers into every little piece of the pie here. He saw opportunity with the meager news offerings and so took it by opening the "Rosebury Times", a news outlet that details many of the going ons within and outside of the community. The business has been going strong, after all, everyone loves just a hint of gossip at tea time, and being able to keep up to date on the news is quite important, especially with a reliable source. His writing is detail driven, with nary a word put of place.

While some may claim him to run a dirtrag or be unfit, he follows a code of ethics in his journalism, and he does put his best foot forward in social events. If someone wants to deliver off the record comments, he'll oblige. And, while his own landscape in the community is relatively meager, the power of the written word has thus far kept his piece of heaven safe in the quiet war.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by General Tommy Wed Aug 29, 2018 7:01 pm

Name: Alm
Age: 17
Original media: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Picture: (make the hair blonde to get Alm's alternate identity)
Life’s Great Mysteries Alm10
Abilities: Expert swordsman, highly capable tactician.  Capable of wielding Falchion (noted to be a god-slaying sword, but also more mundanely heals him constantly over time and is highly effective against monsters) and the Royal Blade due to possessing Major Holy Blood from Duma.  When in possession of Mila's Turnwheel, can rewind time a set number of times per battle to achieve a better result (usually done to prevent one of his men from dying).  Also left-handed.
Bio: Born the son of Emperor Rudolf of Rigel, Alm was spirited away from Rigel to Zofia, where he grew up in Ram Village under the watchful eye of Sir Mycen.  Sir Mycen trained Alm in the sword, but never really seemed to want Alm to leave Ram Village.  During their time together, Celica came to live in the village for three years, during which time Alm became very attached to her, though he didn't know that Celica was the princess of Zofia for some time.  During an incident where some knights from Zofia came to Ram Village, Alm and Celica got into a fight with the knights, and Celica's identity was revealed to the knights.  Sir Mycen saved their lives, and Celica was spirited away to live somewhere else in secret.

During a tearful goodbye, Alm declared that he will find Celica, no matter what happens.  Indeed, Alm one day fulfilled that promise, though he had first gotten into war.  Having liberated Zofia from Chancellor Desaix, and later waging war against the Rigelian Empire, Alm eventually learned his true identity as the son of Emperor Rudolf.  However, that was not the end of their problems.  Alm was forced not only to slay his father and conquer all of Valentia, but also was forced to kill Celica because of the machinations of Jedah (she got better).  With Falchion in hand, Alm went and killed Duma, the War Father, and ended the reign of gods over man in Valentia.

Now King of Valentia with his wife Celica, Alm rules over both Zofia and Rigel, and lives in an era of peace.  There was also an incident where he had to escort some merchants over to another continent and delved into an ancient ruin where he had to fight the Fell Dragon Grima, but that is a story for another time.
New identity: Alfonse Rigel is a historical reenactor in the group called "The Deliverance" with a penchant for swordsmanship.  Having studied historical manuals on swordsmanship, Alfonse is actually capable of wielding his longsword with surprising amounts of skill.  He is a very dear friend to Sylvia Ansley, and though not particularly religious himself, he can be seen attending the weekly church services with Sylvia.  Interestingly, both Alfonse and Sylvia have tattoos on their hands that are markedly similar.  Alfonse's is on the back of his left hand (which also happens to be his sword hand), while Sylvia's is on the palm of her right hand.

While perhaps a bit aggressive towards others he feels wrongs his friends, Alm's sense of justice drives him to help people in need, even if he can put himself at risk at times.  Such a passion for helping people in danger is actually what drove him to study the sword, in fact.  He couldn't possibly own a gun, but learning the sword is much more reasonable.

Post by Any1 Thu Aug 30, 2018 12:46 am

Relaxing under the awning, and smiling in Hayley's direction Gordon stepped towards her. He held the woven basket the girl needed in his hands, all the supplies seemingly in place, and he handed it to her with a chuckle.

"If you're not careful you will get your shoes dirty, you know."

Gordon eyed Hayley up and down with his usual book perfect smile in place of an actual greeting. He stopped his gaze at the edge of her dress, seemingly really concerned about its safety in such a muddy environment. When the quick inspection was over, he leaned down for a kiss. If he had a reason for this visit, after days absent for his Father, his intent wasn't obvious.

"I've seen you try to carry around those bricks. You should really ask for help for such rough labour, don't you think? We have servants that could help you."

---------------------------------------------------------

((Oh fuck my apps are late, oh god))

Name: Ryouko Otonashi
Age: 17?
Original media: Dangan Ronpa Zero
Picture: Here (thighs)
Abilities: Superhuman talent for analysis. She can analyze data in less than seconds and apply what she learns with surprising practical uses. Due to her condition, however, she's stuck writing what she learns in her notebook lest she inmediately forget about it.
Bio: Ryouko Otonashi, from what can be infered from her memory notebook, is one of the many students Hope's Peak Highschool is proud to teach and study. From what she can remember she's always suffered from an incurable condition that makes her unable to retain short time memories. For that reason, she's always carrying something to write with, in order to be able to live with relative normality. However, there's one person she definitely can never forget. Yusuke Matsuda, Super High School Neurologist and Ryouko's childhood friend, is always on her mind. Aside from her huge crush on him, Matsuda also takes care of Ryouko's treatment, as her condition is a fascinating object of study for his field.
New identity: Godiva stumbled her way onto Little Rosebury seemingly by chance. Unable to remember anything, she wandered the streets for days before the neighbours decided she was too unnerving and intervened. With a notebook in her hands she was much more manageable, but no one had no idea what to do with an amnesiac without anything to her name. Luckily for her, the good hearted and kind Angelica Granger took her in and let her stay at the church, and gave her the name Godiva in exchange for doing religious work under her name. Godiva doesn't mind, but she doubts even God can fill the gaping hole she can feel pulsing in her heart ever since she got to her new community.

Name: Homura
Age: 17
Original media: Senran Kagura
Picture: Here
Abilities: Expert ninja training and specializes in six-sword combat, with the ability to wield the legendary nodachi Engetsuka.
Bio: Homura was a student of the ninja school Hebijo, an academy for evil ninja. A story of great betrayal led her there. However, Homura along her teammates were able to save the world from complete destruction, in spite of their school's wishes. Since then, Homura has become the leader of her group of renegade ninjas, travelling where there's trouble and trying to survive off of small missions. Thanks to her friends and her rivals from Hanzo school, Homura's learned to trust again.
New identity: Hannah Bishop works as a chef Little Rosebury's only restaurant specialized in seafood. Needless to say it's a tough job. Her rivalry with a fellow restaurant worker makes it all worth it, though. Countless battles over food have been fought and won since she moved in. Hannah prefers to keep what she did before this life secret, but her menacing expression says more than words ever could.

Name: Asuka
Age: 17
Original media: Senran Kagura
Picture: Here, SFW. I promise.
Abilities: General Shinobi training, specialized combat with her wakizashi, "Green Willow and Red Blossom," and the ability to transform into a shinobi state via a scroll that she keeps in a very... Personal place.
Bio (Thanks Kagurapedia): Asuka has a joyful and friendly personality and believes in team work, sticking together and friendship. On rare occasions she appears to be gullible or clumsy. She aims to become a powerful ninja like her grandfather causing her to try really hard in training and teachings. When Asuka was growing up, she had a reputation for getting into fights and beating up boys and girls alike, to which her grandfather told her she was an independent sword, without a compatible shield. Asuka enlisted in Hanzo National Academy to follow Hanzo's footsteps and to understand the concept of being a sword and a shield. She serves as the de facto squad leader for her group, despite not being the oldest.
New identity: Robin Wells works at THE seafood restaurant in Little Rosebury as a chef, and tries her hardest to make sure every customer leaves with a full stomach and a smile. She clashes with another chef regularly over culinary matters and often loses, but secretly enjoys the knowledge she picks up from these "bouts." She hopes to become the best chef that this town as ever seen through hard work, determination, and surprisingly good knife work.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Post by Nenilein Thu Aug 30, 2018 10:12 am

APPLICATIONS:

Life’s Great Mysteries 143px-Pearl
Name: Pearl
Age: 21
Original media: Splata-ta-ta-ta-ta- Splatoon 2
Abilities: She's an Inkling. Her body is made to 99% of Ink, her skin rips and kills her if she's under too much outside pressure (including water pressure), and she can turn into a squid and shoot ink. Additionally, she was born with an incredibly loud voice, that can shatter glass, electronics, giant death lasers, statues, and generally anything that gets to close to her if she hits a higher note. Oh, also, she loves singing and rapping. Beware.
Bio: The Heiress of the Enperry Business Empire, though she generally prefers to do her own thing rather than following her parents’ lead, which is mainly owed to her rebellious nature. Still, her upbringing has left her with a distorted view on property and money, so she generally doesn’t take property damage very seriously. At age 14, she was electrocuted by exploding stage equipment while trying to win a singing compition, which stunted her growth. Pearl is rude, overly confident, a notorious thrill-seeker and generally doesn’t take a “No” for an answer. She and her partner and best friend, Marina, are inseparable, so pro-tip: Never antagonize Marina in front of Pearl if you want to come out of the encounter with all your limbs attached.  She loves hip-hop, rock and metal music, and if you call her "short", prepare to have your eyes clawed out and ear-drums shattered (she's only 145cm tall.)

Life’s Great Mysteries Tumblr_p5ym06D2RQ1trymwho1_500
(She's on the left.)
New identity:
Sarah-Pearline D'Nausikaä - Still short, still loud, still rude, still Pearl. According to her current memories, her parents - a pair of post-war business people who rose to quick wealth discovering certain market niches once the rebuilding efforts were in full gear - were killed in an accident and since there were no male heirs, she inherited their business empire and money, however, found the responsibility to be too much for her and escaped to Herefordshire to lay low with her best friend until she can figure out what to do with herself, as she'd rather continue their music career (Rock'n Roll and Jazz in this universe) than take over the family business. She runs a pirate radio station called "Off Their Wave" with said best friend, broadcasting their music and town gossip all over town.

Life’s Great Mysteries Teddieboy
Name: Teddie
Age: ??????
Original media: Persona 4
Abilities: Being originally composed of emotional energy and information rather than flesh and blood; switching between humanoid and mascot forms; altering his physical appearance according to his wishes if they're powerful enough; sensing paranormal presences; his Persona
Bio: Teddie was created when a Shadow - an amalgamate of negative emotions and thoughts - in the cultural subconscious of Inaba became self-aware and rejected its own existence as something diagonally opposed to human life. Rather, he wanted to live with humans, and be loved and cared for. This caused him to deny his own origins in search for a "different truth" for a long time, until he realized that his friends already love him, no matter what. Then he came to accept himself the way he was born. Ever since then, he's lived as the adopted brother of Yosuke Hanamura (one of his closest friends, even if they annoy each other a lot) and worked as a teenage part-timer at the local Department Store, Junes, which Yosuke's father manages. Teddie has a hyperactive imagination and sense of humor, which often tends to annoy others, he loves indulging in wise-guy straight-man comedy routines with his friends in an effort to make them love, he loves puns (bad and good) and he's extremely clingy and needy for affection to the point of flirting with people just to make sure they don't hate him. Because of his own experience, he empathizes a lot with people who struggle with their own identity and always tries to help them out wherever he can. Those moments is when he's at his most sincere.

New identity:
Kuma Hanamura (花村 来間) The 16 years old, adopted younger son to one Ichiyô Hanamura and one Kurumi Hanamura, younger brother of Yosuke Hanamura, who was found by them as an amnesiac behind their grocery store in a small town in Japan when he was 4 and has been living with them ever since. Because of his light skin, hair and eyes, it's believed that he was a child left behind by one of the American occupants who were stationed there after the war. Now a little older, he's gone out in search for his birth parents. Since all initial clues point towards most of the American soldiers stationed where the Hanamuras live originally coming from England, he came to study at a boarding school in Herefordshire in hopes of learning where he might have come from, but since his English is rather broken and he has a strong Japanese accent, he often earns himself the stares of classmates, which makes his anxieties flare up.

Life’s Great Mysteries Latest?cb=20180501161248
(Yes. I AM doing this. You can't stop me, reddit.)
Name: Izuku Midoriya
Age: 16
Original media: My Hero Academia
Abilities: Originally quirkless, now he wields One For All, which technically gives him insanely superhuman strength, provided he can focus well enough to use it without destroying his own muscles and bones. He's also very intelligent and cooperative, so he when given the time to think, he can come up with very creative and well-planned battle strategies (tho he can make good things up at the spot as well when pressed).
Bio: Living in a world where 80% of humanity have evolved to have superhuman abilities, he's admired professional Superhero "All Might" since he was in Kindergarten and has worked tirelessly to become a Superhero just like him himself, even though he was born without a quirk himself, taking notes on all the heroes he knows, making elaborate plans, and planning out every possible way he could get into his dream school, UA. Eventually, he was chosen by All Might as his successor- ever since then, he's been struggling to make the great power passed on to him his own. His resolve is unfaltering, if anything, it's gotten even stronger, studying hard, training tirelessly and even fighting the League of Villains alongside his classmates again and again. However, he's already put immense strain on his body in his time, to the point that he's on the verge of ending up paralized if he overdoes it too much.

New identity:
David Denver - A meek, withdrawn Highschool student attending the same boarding school as Teddie, with no special talents, ambitions or dreams, who's not sure what to do with his life, other than maybe go into a factory after graduating and be done with it. A shame, because his teachers see great potential in his intelligence (he consistently scores high on tests) and he's a real sweetheart who can't help but rush to aid anyone he sees in need. However, he just can't get himself to get invested in "growing up" or anything he could do as an adult at all. Not having friends doesn't really help the matter. The only thing he's passionate about -secretly - are the Super Hero comics, which his father sends him from America from time to time. He feels a special connection to these stories he can't explain, and reads them religiously every single night.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

((All current applications are accepted.))

Looking suddenly alert, as though she had not noticed his presence until this moment, Hayley returned her betrothed's smile with a pleasant warmth. Placing her bare hands upon the basket's rough handles, she knew he disapproved of her way of doing things and that a critical comment was incoming. Despite this, Hayley held her gaze and pulled the basket away. There was little time to spare, what with the cloud cover above turning darker by the moment, but there was also no real way of avoiding Gordon's questioning.

"Perhaps I will, but shoes can be cleaned. And what's more, people who never take risks never get results either. Besides, I'm sure that the staff have their hands full most of the time as it is. I don't intend on forgetting my roots, is what I mean to say."

Bringing her face forward so as to allow him to plant a small kiss on her equally small cheek, Hayley brought her hand over to rest on his face and gave him a look of mild exasperation.

"Where have you been these last few days, darling?" she queried emotionally, her eyes telling a story of their own. "I know you have to pop out now and then but I've been quite alone myself. There's no reason I cannot keep myself occupied here but I don't see why I can't accompany you on your trips."

Gordon closed his eyes when Hayley's hand caressed his face, but the feeling of relax didn't last. As soon as she mentioned the "trips" he took with his Father he visibly flinched, his features turning cold and standing back straight to end the contact. With his pleasant smile now gone, the bags under his eyes were more noticeable than ever.

"I... I'm sorry, but you know that's not possible. Father would never allow it. Besides... They're nothing a girl like you should concern yourself with."

He turned her back to her, then, playing with the hem of his leather glove. Their usual conversation was heading the exact same direction it always did. As much as he couldn't stand the slowly growing tension that was putting a strain on their bond, he had to stay quiet.

"I'll go get everything ready for dinner, then. As soon as it starts raining, I'll be sending someone after you. I wouldn't want my dear to catch a cold."

He waved at her and smiled again, but his smile no longer looked genuine. With fast steps he retreated to the Manor, leaving Hayley alone with the wind and the sound of menacing thunder.

((Last one I swear))
Name: Marina Ida
Age: 18
Original media: Splatoon 2
Picture: Here
Abilities: As an Octoling, Marina can use and submerge in her own ink in order to move rapidly and for regular Turf Wars. Aside from great singing, her talent regarding any kind of technical engineering makes her able to design a variety of weapons and machinery.
Bio: Marina was once a combat engineer for the Octarians, having graduated from elementary training at only 9 years of age after skipping multiple grades. She went on to play a part in designing the Flooder and enhancing the Great Octoweapons. During the events of the first Splatoon, she had received multiple commendations as part of DJ Octavio's wasabi supply unit. As a high-ranking member, she was known throughout Octarian society, and was recognized by Agent 8 despite never meeting personally. She was present at the ‘concert’ hosted by DJ Octavio in his fight against Agent 3, but deserted shortly after hearing the Squid Sisters' Calamari Inkantation. According to witnesses, her only comment was "This changes everything." When she first arrived at the Inkling world, she did not understand the language and had to learn it from Pearl. That was around the time she decided to form Off The Hook with her friend, and they were well received enough to get a job hosting Inkopolis News after the Squids Sisters retired. (Thanks Splatpedia ilu)
New identity: María del Mar Irma didn't know any English when she came to the country at first, only a backpack to her name. Running off with state secrets in your brain is no small talk, but everything became easier when she met Sarah-Pearline. After a few English lessons and a promise to form a band, they ran off to Little Rosebury. With her "special" skills she was able to create a pirate radio broadcasting station, which they use as promo for their music ever since. María del Mar kind of misses the busy city life, but she enjoys indulging in the town's gossip.

Angelica Granger was having a wonderful day. She was walking around the sanctuary of her chapel with a companion, examining prayer books and decluttering pews, only occasionally stopping to go off on some sort of small, semi-educational christian tangent. It was during one of these that she reached the altar at the front, bowed at the crucifix, and turned to face Godiva.

"And that is why we must live a pious life, yes!" Angelica clasped her hands together over her head. "You see, Godiva? God has given us the means to help all of this town, even those who do not yet realize it! He sent you to me so we can grow our congregation! Praise be to him for such a day as today!"

--------------

Sgt. Claudius Sullivan was having an awful day. He was sitting at his desk in his office, strumming his fingers along the edge of the table as a look that could only be described as arrogant boredom settled onto his face. He glanced out the window and shook his head.

"This place has been far too quiet..." He muttered to himself. "I'm sure the low-life scum and vermin that hide in the shadows are plotting something insidious at this moment. Maybe I should send a constable to a home for a 'random inspection...'"

He glanced at the safe in his office and considered opening it for a brief few seconds before shaking his head. It wasn't time for that, not yet. Sullivan instead turned his attention back towards the fireplace that wasn't currently in use. He stood up, picked up the poker, and began to sift through the ash for anything of note.

The air near the local library is soon filled with the small sounds of a cane hitting upon the ground. It was in a slow, methodical fashion, the gentle walking of a soldier in nearly perfect step and time. Though perhaps a bit slower than some who knew the man might have known. "Hmm...darned hip..." The rattling of the cane would resonate as he took but a moment to rest near the door of the Fogg library, a small bag carrying a few books in one arm.

The old war vet let out a small sigh as he looked towards the sky, the sounds of an approaching thunderstorm hanging about. "Hopefully it won't rain too hard. Those birds always like to ruin my view after a good storm you know." He wasn't...really speaking to anyone in particular, his voice just looking to be heard for but a moment. There he stays for a moment, just looking to rest his weary feet.

Newsletter came out good this week." The paper fell upon the table as Nathaniel stood up, already moving to grab a warm coat on his way outside, taking a moment to turn the radio off of a local 'wave' of a station.

The paper was out, already in the shops and about the neighborhood, and now he was ready to begin work on the next issue. No matter rain nor sleet nor sun, the news would not be stopped. So it was that he was already out and about, notepad at the ready, heading towards the police department. Always good to take a quick peek to see if there was any sort of trouble about, the potential for excitement always made for great front page news.

late app is late bc school

Name: Celica
Age: 17
Original media: Fire Emblem
Picture: Boop.

Abilities: Though Celica prefers to avoid conflict, she wields a sword with precision. She is also experienced in powerful magic, particularly the spell Ragnarok, her strongest spell, and Seraphim, used against monsters and undead. Casting these spells often come with sapping Celica's health in exchange, but as long as she can maintain herself with vulneraries or healing spells, she can continue the fight.

Bio: Born "Anthiese," the young princess of Zofia survived an assassination attempt thanks to her bodyguard Mycen, and was taken to Ram Village where she assumed her current name. During her stay in the village, she befriended the other children, including her close friend, Alm. When Ram village was invaded by the enemy, Mycen was forced to move Celica elsewhere, but not before saying goodbye to Alm. Years later, Celica, now a devout priestess, began her journey to seek the Zofian goddess Mila. Her journey had led her to reunite with Alm for a short moment before splitting up again and coming to terms with her royal heritage. Eventually, she would end up in Rigel and assist Alm in ending the era of gods by putting down Mila's brother, Duma, who was suffering from degeneration, the fate of all fell dragons. Along with the Hero-King Alm, she became queen and ruled over the now-unified Valentia.

New identity: Sylvia Ansley is a young woman who is a devout Christian and thus frequents Little Rosebury's church. Her kindness has earned her a reputation among those who knew her. She is friends with Alfonse Rigel, who often attends with her. Like Alfonse, she has a tattoo on her palm but usually conceals it with gloves. When she was young, she attended boarding school, and for the most part, lived a sheltered life. One can assume she has yet to learn more about the nuances of casual behavior.

Rumor has it that one can spy Sylvia feeding stray cats on occasion.

Name: Professor Hershel Layton.
Age: 37 (Post Unwound Future basically. >><<)
Original media: Professor Layton series.
Picture: Here
Abilities: A skilled fencer and puzzle solver. Can often build devices out of various appliances lying around.
Bio:A Professor of Archaeology at Gressenheller University in London, Layton has solved many mysteries over the years, from the Spectre's Flute to a mysterious time machine. He's faced hardships through his life, losing friends and family but as a true gentleman he does not let it stop him from doing what he can to help those in need, and of course solving plenty of puzzles along the way.
New identity: Arthur Fogg, the father of Charlotte and Ariana Fogg owns the local library. He loved his daughters dearly and would often like to challenge them with puzzles, however Charlotte was often far better at solving them than Ariana, so Arthur would instead support her in her sporting exploits. Some in town disapproved of Ariana being involved in sports, however Layton's unfailingly gentlemanly manner would often force them to only talk about their opinions on this in private. In the town Arthur was fairly popular, considered a kind gentleman who was always willing to help out those in need. A few months after the death of his wife Angela Fogg, Arthur for some reason decided he had to leave Little Rosebury. He promised his daughters he would return and he trusted Ariana to take care of things whilst he was gone, however that was now two months ago, which has led to his daughters getting concerned regarding the future. His absence of course has led some in town to start now speaking more derisively of him, some out of genuine concern for his daughters and others simply saying things they'd bite their tongue regarding when he was present.

((Got the ok from Jess and Veri for this.))

Ariana sighed after hearing the thunderstorm. "Not now," she thought, "it can't start raining now that I need to run some errands...!"

Searching as fast as she could for her glasses so she was finally ready to leave, Ariana recalled once more all she needed to buy at the local market that day. She needed to make the money her father left last as long as possible, as Arthur apparently forgot to say how long he'd be away...

Climbing down the stairs, Ariana did her best to not trip and fall while being as fast as she could. She really needed to leave before the rain started to fall...

"Lotte, I'm leav- Lotte, do you hear me?"

"Yes, sis, I do."

Despite answering her sister, Charlotte did not take her eyes off the book she was reading. There wasn't much else to do in a library - not that Charlotte minded anyway. Since her pale skin didn't react well to much solar light, she'd rather spend her time reading indoor.

"I'm leaving now," Ariana said once again. "Do you need something?"

"No," Charlotte smiled, finally looking at her sister. "I've got all that I need right here."

"G-Good," Ariana blushed. "I'll try to be back before the rain comes down."

Little did Ariana know that, once she opened the library's door, a known face would be waiting for her.

Life’s Great Mysteries Empty Re: Life’s Great Mysteries

Giggles wrote:Sgt.

Detective Patrick O'Donnell was having a rather boring day. Little Rosebury had been calm recently, any signs of criminal activities or accidental illegalities having been impressively absent, but that meant there was one person who would surely be showing signs of restlessness sooner or later.
Patrick mused on this as he idly turned a coin through his fingers, the familiar slight-of-hand providing a physical mirror to his active mind despite being so well practiced he barely felt the need to look at his hand before the polished wood of the table below it knocked with the sound of the unobserved quarter falling.

Picking it up again, O'Donnell turned his attention to the odd coin. It was a collector's item of sorts, a Washington quarter, something he had picked up on a trip to America if his memory served him well. It was odd in the hand compared to something like a shilling, slightly larger and weighted just differently enough to feel strange by comparison, but any disk with two sides would do for this trick. Hooking his thumb under the coin, Patrick flipped it high in the air with a sharp ping and let it fall back into his palm.

Tails. This time he'd bet against himself and lost.

Slipping the coin into a pocket, the detective grabbed a small bag of three donuts off the table beside him before heading to a familiar office door. All that hesitation, he mused, and what he had come here intending to do was such a simple thing. With measured timing and a purposefully calm, if not bored, expression, Patrick knocked once, twice, a third for good measure, and pushed the open the doorway into Sgt. Claudius Sullivan's office.

"Sergeant, I decided to buy you donuts. I thought you might appreciate a small distraction."
