Helie wrote:I propose a reading of the script once the RP is over.
I like this proposal. It shall be considered.
Of course, I'd have to add more stage directions if we do that.

I can give you a hand with that! They don't call me Amateur Thespian for nothing.
Don't ask who calls me that. It's irrelevant.

- Oh boy... The faucet in here has been haphazardly clenched shut with a wrench! It's stuck, you can't turn it off, and by now, the pressure is high, and to make matters worse, the water seems to be boiling hot! That wrench might be useful if you could take it off... If only you could turn off the water externally? Else, risk burns.

DIALOGUE
The group had now split up into 3 teams:Edgeworth, Aqua and Aleka would take a closer look at some of the rooms in this place.Goro, Junko and Monika would examine the storage room - with the caveat that Monika took off on her own for a bit to take care of, ahem, "personal business".Finally, Hitsugi, Adachi and Spider-Man would take a look at the Utility. Let's hope Adachi doesn't crash into anything again in there. Incidentally, the lighting in the Utility isn't broken. As long as they find the switch, they should be fine...In any case, the teams got to taking care of their explorations.- Edgeworth/Aqua/Aleka:
(Being passed by Monika, who suddenly seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere, Edgeworth's party approaches Megaira.)
Monika: "Excuse me."
(She runs by. Edgeworth turns to Megaira.)
Edgeworth: "... Excuse me. I was told you would not be allowing anyone to use the elevator without a golden key. Is this correct?"
Edgeworth: "Are you the operator of this elevator? If so, how long have you been working here?"
(Aqua looks at Megaira.)
Aqua: (Something is... odd about her.)
Aleka: "...?"Aleka looked at the Elevator Lady quite intently...Megaira: "..."The woman's expression did not change in the face of Edgeworth's questions. She barely even seemed to breath in before answering to them.
Megaira: "That is correct. This elevator is the only thing in this world ruled by my laws."
Megaira: "And those laws state that only those with a key may enter, and only once all keys are gathered within and all people who are inside hold at least a key of their own, will my elevator leave this floor. Forever."
Edgeworth: (shocked) "... I see."
Megaira: "How long I've been here is irrelevant. You should rather focus on finding the keys, before your chance has passed."
(Edgeworth glares at Megaira.)The woman's eyes then fell on the women behind Edgeworth, whom she looked at intently for a short while.
Megaira: "Oh... Another rule. I will not leave this floor without Aleka. That is all."
Aleka: "Me?"Aleka seems surprised at that. She gasps a little, returning the woman's intent look.
Aleka: "Huh... have we met before?"The woman, however, doesn't answer.Edgeworth: "...Very well. We're not done here, however."Megaira doesn't let Edgeworth's threatening look phase her. Her face remains like stone as the group around Edgeworth moves away from her.(Edgeworth leads his party away from the elevator, heading for Room #509.)Edgeworth: "Aleka... how long have you been in this hotel?"Edgeworth: "You mentioned before that you used to be able to use the elevator. How long ago was that?"
Aleka: "Umm, well. How do I say..."She ponders.
Aleka: "It was long enough to have ten meals. Maybe even eleven? I had my first meal right after I started existing, but that was even more meals ago! I don't think I could count them all."
Aleka: "I still remember what the first one was! Fried rice with chicken. Hmm, that was so good... "She licks her lips.
Aleka: "HMMMM! I want to have that again right now! I would eat a whole room full I bet! Wanna see? Wanna!?"
Aqua: "Um, I'm not sure we need to know that much about you eating...!"
Aleka: "Oh?"Aleka tilts her head a little at that.
Aqua: "It's odd tho... You keep measuring time in 'When you did this' or 'When you were there'... Wouldn't it be easier to speak in hours? Or days?"
Aleka: "...Hours? Days?"She seems flabbergasted at the suggestion...
Aqua: (So she doesn't know what those are, either...)
(Aqua whispers to Edgeworth.)
Aqua: "Sir Edgeworth... I don't think Aleka is going to be able to tell us a whole lot."
Aqua: "She doesn't seem to understand anything about the world outside this Hotel. As if she didn't have any memories of it...
Aqua: "Do you think that's the doing of whoever trapped us here, too?"
(Edgeworth checks his watch for a moment.)
Edgeworth: "..."
(He whispers back to Aqua.)
Edgeworth: "Whoever or whatever has trapped us here clearly has something planned. For us all to have our recent memories missing? The issue regarding a lack of a language barrier?"
Edgeworth: "The book that young lady started with and the loss of my case's key? That we all come from different backgrounds?"
Edgeworth: "Whoever has trapped us here, whatever game they are playing...it is beyond normal."
Edgeworth: "Clearly, given our situation, I have to think on things I would normally take for granted. The rules of this place are different and unique."
Edgeworth: "It is entirely possible that Aleka was born and has been kept here her entire life."
Edgeworth: "Judging by what the woman in the elevator has said, I think we can assume that Aleka has had free reign of the hotel in the past, but something has changed that lead us to our current situation..."
Edgeworth: "I think it is quite likely that things will turn more sinister in the near future. Regardless, she may be our best source of information on this place."
Aqua: "Her entire life...? You mean, somebody might have created her just for this?"
Aqua: "You're right, of course... She still knows this place best. But how much is this really going to help? She barely knows how to name things.
Aqua: "I really don't want to use someone like that just to get out of here. She doesn't even comprehend what we're trying to do."
(They arrive in Room #509)
Edgeworth: "Now then, according to the map, each of the hotel rooms on this floor should be the same size, and so we can expect them to have similar layouts. I suggest we inspect each room as a group, moving clockwise, but with each of us investigating the same area of every room. That way, we'll grow more familiar with the norms for that area; we'll know what to expect, and if something is out of the ordinary, we may be able to pick it out more quickly."
Aqua: "Clockwise... So we'll start with 509 and end with 511."(She nods.)Aqua: "Alright. That seems like the best way to do it."
Aleka: "What are we looking for?"
Aqua: "Oh... anything, really. Things that seem out of place."
Aqua: "If you see anything, just tell us, okay?"
Aleka: "Sure!"Aleka nods before she skips over to the window, starting to curiously peak behind the curtains. The group begins to examine the room, which looks absolutely identical to the room Aqua and Edgeworth woke up in before. Indeed, nothing seems odd at all...
(Edgeworth checks the bathroom.)
Edgeworth: "..."
(He checks the Telephone next.)
(He tries to call 911. Busy signal.)
Edgeworth: "..."
Edgeworth: (...I wonder...)
LOGIC: 'Telephone' + 'Map of the Hotel' = ...
Edgeworth: "...Hmm."
(He dials 507.)Just that moment, the telephone in Room #507 starts ringing loudly. Everyone in the right half of the floor or the hallway would hear it.
Edgeworth: "Hmm. It's as I thought."
(After a few rings, Edgeworth hangs up the phone.)(Meanwhile, Aqua approaches the TV and puts a hand on it.)
Aqua: "A mirror...? No, wait, it's a screen. But what for? I don't see any sort of machinery or magic attached to it... It's not a computer, is it?"
Edgeworth: "That, Miss Aqua, is a television. Normally in hotel environments, it is used by the guests for entertainment purposes or to watch the news."
Edgeworth: "It will also sometimes have announcements from the hotel itself."
Aqua: "Television...?"
Edgeworth: " I take it that from where you come from, this isn't a common sight, Miss Aqua?"
Aqua: "No, I'm afraid I don't know what it is. I think I understand the gist of it, though. It's a playback device of sorts, right?
Edgeworth: "... The power for this phone is working...that might be true for the television."
Edgeworth: "Miss Aqua, could you please turn it on? There should be a button for its power located either underneath or on the back. There may also be a remote control for it. "
Aqua: Alright... I'll try turning it on."
(Aqua finds the button, presses it.)The TV turns on, playing... An episode of the Lilo & Stitch Cartoon.
Aqua: (baffled) "...HUH!?"
Aqua: "Wait... That's... What is he...!?"
Aqua: (What in the worlds is going on...?)
Aleka: "Hm?"
Aleka has takes notice of the TV when this conversation occurs. She quickly starts beaming at the screen.
Aleka: "Aww! It's so cute!!"
Edgeworth: "Hmm. He...appears to be Stitch, a cartoon character. He's fairly popular amongst the children, though lacking behind the Steel Samurai in the ratings if I recall correctly."
(He takes note of Aqua's odd reaction.)
Edgeworth: "I believe he's supposed to be an alien of some sort... That's interesting."
Aqua: "A... A character... Right..."
Aqua: (That is Experiment 626, no doubt about it. But why here, in this world, like this...? Just where am I...?)
Aqua: (Well... He seems to be having fun at least. That's good. I'd be happy if that were really where he did end up after all that happened. At least one friend to come out of that mess unharmed...)
Edgeworth: "This shows that the TVs are working and may be getting a signal. Or, at the very least, it's a recorded show. It may be worth checking to see if there are other channels."
Aqua: "Um... Alright."
(Aqua begins zapping through channels. She lands on the Steel Samurai.)
Aleka: "...!"
Aleka likes the sight of that and begins singing along with the theme-song. She seems to know every word.
(Edgeworth smiles at the Steel Samurai and takes notice of Aleka's singing.)
Edgeworth: "Now, it appears as though the telephones here are connected via an internal line."
(Aqua notices he's talking about the phone.)
Aqua: "So, it's a communication device."
Aqua: "I guess it doesn't allow us connect to anywhere outside this place?"
Edgeworth: "All that one would need to do in order to communicate with the other rooms is to know the proper number.
Edgeworth: "That would allow us to communicate with every other room on this floor and possibly the ones below us, with the exception of the Utility and Storage rooms, along with any other specialty rooms. However..."
Edgeworth: "Considering the nature of hotels in general, it is very possible that those rooms may still have a phone for the staff to communicate."
Edgeworth: "If we consider their placement, we might also be able to get their numbers, and that would allow us to stay in communication with the other teams, should the need arise."
Edgeworth: "Let us test this theory as well."
(He dials 506)
The phone takes an unusually long time connecting after Edgeworth dials the number.
Eventually, he would hear an announcement by what seems to be a pre-recorded female voice.
"You have called. Five. Zero. Six. Inactive receiving handset detected. Please wait, while receiving handset's secondary power source is activated."
"Secondary Power Source activated. Connecting. Please wait."
One can hear the Storage Room phone ringing from across the hallway...
Goro: "Hello? This is the storage room, where are you calling from?"
Edgeworth: "This is Miles Edgeworth calling from Room 509. You're...Detective Goro, correct?"
Goro: "Oh, I see. Yes, this is Detective Goro Akechi speaking."
Edgeworth: "Detective, so that you are aware, it seems as though the phones in this building all run off of internal lines."
Edgeworth: "As such, everyone should be able to communicate with each other should the need arise, simply by typing in the requisite room number."
Goro:" It makes sense that there would be an internal line for communication, but putting a phone in the storage closet? That seems like a bit much, wouldn't you agree."
Goro: "Perhaps this is all part of the game."
Edgeworth: "The fact that the phone was inactive and could be activated via a mere phone call seems odd."
Edgeworth : "...It is clear that we are in a game beyond our normal means. It is clear that someone intends to toy with us. Proceed with the utmost caution."
Edgeworth: "One more thing. According to the automated system on the phone, the telephone in your room was inactive, and its secondary power activated for it to start working."
Edgeworth: "Could you check to see if it remains on when this call ends?"
Goro: "Not a problem, Mr Edgeworth. I'll also pass on this information to the other members of my group, thank you."
Goro: "By the way, I think we're more or less finished with this place. Should we join you in sweeping the hotel rooms?"
Edgeworth: "Yes, please do. My team and I are examining the corridor on the right side of the map, starting with room number 509 and moving clockwise."
Edgeworth: "You may want to take a different part of the hotel, so we can collectively cover more ground in less time. One last thing, Detective Goro."
Edgeworth: "If you should happen across a brass key on your search, about an inch and a half long, please do let me know. I believe our captor has taken it and put it somewhere."
Goro: "An inch and a half."
Goro: "Alright, we'll head down to the other end of the floor and hopefully meet you in the middle. Goodbye now, Mr Edgeworth."
(Goro hangs up.)
(Edgeworth keeps his attention on the phone for a while.)
Edgeworth: (506 is the Storage Room's number. Judging by the map, the Utility's number should be 512. In that case...)
(He dials 513)
Just a few seconds later, Edgeworth would hear a sound over the receiver,
"The number you have called is not valid. Please try again."
Edgeworth: (Well, that was anticlimactic.)
(Meanwhile, Aqua paces around the room.)
Aqua: (Alright, let's see... I was in the realm of Darkness. I don't know how much time passed since I ran into Mickey, of course, but it's been quite a bit.)
Aqua: (And I'm sure I didn't meet anyone else in-between. So, how did I end up here...?)
Aqua: (This place is in the Realm of Light... right? I mean, there's people here, so it would have to be. But it's strange. Something feels... off. Mostly about the people here, though.)
Aqua: (Junko, Adachi, Akechi, Monika... It might just be because I've come so used to sensing it all around me, but they all seem to have a tint of Darkness to them. It makes me shiver.)
Aqua: (And then there's that man in the mask. Something isn't quite right with Aleka either. )
(She looks at Aleka and the TV.)
Aqua: (What is this world? If someone from a world I've actually visited is considered a character in a story here... How far away from home am I? How far away am I... from Ven?)
Aqua: (I can't focus on that now. This place... It might be a path back to the realm of light! I have to keep my thoughts straight...)
Aleka: "Hey? Aqua?"
Aqua: "...?"
Aleka: "Who's your favorite hero?"
Aqua: "Huh?"
Aqua: "Um, well... I don't really know any of these people on there..."
Aleka: "That's okay! I just wanna know who you think is the coolest defender of good!"
Aqua: "Defender of Good..."
Aqua (whispered): "Master... Terra..."
Aleka: "Terra? That's a cool name!"
Aleka: "I bet he's a great hero!"
Aqua: "...!"
(She looks away.)Laughing in ignorance of the melancholy Aqua was displaying, Aleka was blissfully unaware of what her statements implied to the other. There was something deeply innocent in the way she'd asked her question and read the woman's answer. Even more childlike was the way she kept her eyes on the television, fascinated by what it showed.Edgeworth: "I think we're done with this room. Let's move on to the next, shall we?"
(Aqua snaps out of her trance and nods, she and Aleka leave the room together with him.)
(They find nothing in Room #507, and move on.)
Room #505
(A stench immediately overtakes our heroes.)
Edgeworth: "Do you smell that?"
Aqua: "Yeah, it'd be hard not to smell it."
(They move to the Mini-Bar and tests it.)
Edgeworth: "It's definitely coming from the mini-bar."
Edgeworth: "It isn't on, from the looks of it."
Aqua: "Not turned on? Well, at any rate, this is definitely spoiled. That's really weird."
Aqua: "We all woke at the same time. If that was somehow premeditated, it must have been meticulous work."
Aqua: "I... can't imagine something or someone being able to do that and then leave plain food to spoil so carelessly."
(He looks behind it.)
Edgeworth: "That would explain it. It isn't plugged in."
Aqua: "It's not plugged in? But there's something stuck there..."
Edgeworth: "It... Appears to be the head of a screwdriver."
Edgeworth: "Be careful not to touch it, it'll give a nasty shock."
Edgeworth: "I believe the reason the food got spoiled was simply because it was needed to take the plug out the outlet in order to stick the screwdriver into it."
Edgeworth: "Which means that whoever did so either did not care about the food inside the mini bar, or somehow wanted it to spoil. Either way, it was premeditated, no doubt about it."
Edgeworth: "In any case, the mini bar has been disconnected for more than a couple of hours, or the food wouldn't be this bad. This begs the question... How long were we unconscious?"
Edgeworth: "I think we may learn something if we remove the screwdriver from the outlet. We just need to make sure the electricity doesn't pass through the person removing it to the floor."
Edgeworth: "We can do this by either cutting off the power to this outlet, or by putting some rubber between us and the metal, or us and the floor."
Edgeworth: "Aqua, did you see a rubber mat in the bathtub?"
(She checks)
Aqua: "No, there's nothing like that in here. Just a damp towel. That's the opposite of helpful, really."
(She sighs.)
Edgeworth: "Just a damp towel, you say? Well, things aren't any better for me. I can't seem to find anything helpful around here either."
Aqua: "But if I remember right, with electrical systems like this, there's usually some kind of hub that controls the flow of energy, correct? So maybe, if we turned that one off..."
Edgeworth: "Yes, we should be able to find a power box somewhere in this hotel. However, searching for it might take us too much time. For the time being, let's add this to our list of things we should-"
(While the two of them are busy discussing, Aleka has taken interest in the outlet herself...)
Aleka: "...?"
Aleka, in the meantime, doesn't seem to particularly understand what the other two are going on about.
Curious at the weird, shiny rod extended from the wall, she moves her finger towards it...
(Edgeworth notices what she is doing.)
Edgeworth: "Aleka, wait, don't...!"
Edgeworth: ""That's dangerous!"
It all happened quite quickly. By the time Aleka heard the warnings of the two with her, it was already to late.
A quite powerful spark had jumped over from the metal rod onto her body and shot through it, causing her to yelp and scream.
Aqua: "Aleka!"
(At a moments notice, Aqua grabs Aleka and tries to throw her out of the way, unaware of her own strength.)
Aqua: (I messed up!)
(She redirects her throw and suplexes Aleka onto the bed.)
Aqua: "There!"
The flow of electricity was quickly interrupted by Aqua lifting the girl up and tossing her onto the bed, but the shock remained. Wide-eyed, Aleka starred at the ceiling.
Edgeworth: "Aleka!"
Aleka: "...!"
Aleka: "...O-Ouch..."
Aqua: "A-Aleka! Are you alright?"
Aqua: "Wait, show me that. I'll-"
But when Aqua took Aleka's hand to cast a spell and heal the burns on them, she found... nothing.
There was no wound, not even an irritation. Aleka's tan skin was as untouched as ever.
Aqua: "...Huh?"
A glance at the floor where Aleka had been standing when she'd been shocked revealed a dark spot in the room's carpet.
Clearly, the ground hadn't escaped damage like she had. So why was Aleka unharmed...?
Aqua: (What is going on...?)
Edgeworth: (shocked) "How...did she...?"
Edgeworth: "Miss Aleka...are you alright...? Don't do something like that again. We wouldn't want you to get hurt."
(Aqua's feat of strength has left him stunned also.)
Edgeworth: "... Miss Aqua, I'm concerned for you as well. If you touched Miss Aleka while the electricity was flowing through her, the shock should have reached you as well. How are you feeling?"
Aqua: "I'm fine. I... don't think I was affected at all."
Edgeworth: "We need to turn off the electricity if we're to get that out of the socket. There should be a breaker box..."
LOGIC: "Map of the Hotel" + "Where's the Breakers?" = ...
Edgeworth: "...In most places, you would expect a central location to have your breakers. Out of every location on this floor...the most likely is the Utility room. We should give that team a call."
Aqua: "The utility room... right."
Aqua: "Let's try calling there. Actually- let me try."
(She lets Aleka rest on the bed and checks the map for room numbers.)
Aqua: "... Sir Edgeworth?"
Aqua: "What number should I call? It almost seems like... two different ones would fit the spot."
Edgeworth: "5-1-2. I tried dialing 513 earlier, it didn't work."
Edgeworth: "I'd speculate that specific room number was skipped out of superstition surrounding the number 13, but I can't say for sure."
Aqua: "Superstition? ...Right. '13' is the number of Darkness. Makes sense,"
Aqua: "Alright, I'm gonna try calling."
(Aqua dials the number.)
Aleka: "..."
The earlier pain apparently already forgotten, Aleka watches fascinated as Aqua inputs the number into the phone - somewhat clumsily, if one might add - and waited for it to connect...
Just then, a red light bulb illuminated the Utility, pointing towards the room's phone, which began to ring.

- Goro/Junko/Monika:
(After a short while of walking, Monika suddenly seems to be feeling sick. She lets go of Junko's hand.)
Monika: "I- I'm sorry you two. You can explore the storage room. I'll meet up with you in a moment."
Monika: "I must've ate something bad before I came here, because I have to take care of some, uh... Personal business."
Monika: "I'm going to go try to find the most out of the way room to take care of it in. I'll meet you back around here in a bit! I'll call out if I can't find you!"
Junko: "Get better soon~"
(Junko waves.)
(Monika runs by the elevator, passing Megaira)
Monika: "Excuse me."
(Junko and Goro are left behind.)
Junko: "Man... Talk about a weirdo. Is she allergic to investigations? And we had finally found a person to group with..."
Goro: "There's no denying that it's a bit odd, but there's most likely a reasonable explanation. Allergies, yes, or maybe there's a bug going around."
Goro: "This is a team effort, however, so we may be at something of a disadvantage without a third member."
Junko: "Ah, whatever! It's her loss. I wanna see her face when she realized we solved the mystery! Let us go, A-KE-CHI~! ☆"
Goro: "Well then, I guess we'll just have to work extra hard to make up for it. Yes, let's go. Mystery awaits."
(They enter the storage room.)
Junko:"Have they ever heard of a light switch? Ugh..."If Junko were to take a closer look, she would see that there is indeed a light switch in the storage room. It just won't do anything when used. Maybe the power in the room is off...?The faint rancid smell coming from what appears to be a large freezer in the back seems to confirm that idea.
(She uses her phone to light the way for Goro.)
Junko: "This place is such a stupid mess... Guess you better start checking those boxes, huh? I'll hold the light."
Goro: "That will work. It's funny, I'd almost forgotten I had my phone on me. I'll add mine too."
(Goro puts down the apple and uses his own phone for additional light.)
(He starts opening boxes.)
Goro: "Nothing."
Goro: "This one too."
Goro: "N-Ngh..! Why is that in a place like this?"
Goro: "Oh, well, that's more like it. You hungry?"
(He tosses Junko a bag of crackers and continues onto the next box.J
Goro: "That's... unnecessary. Nobody should be doing that on the clock, let alone in a hotel."
Goro: "Good grief. I understand that a job in a place like this must be taxing but there's a time and a place for..."
Goro: "Oh, hello. Now what have we got here?"
(He looks closer at the documents he found...)What Akechi found is the following.1.) A newspaper article reporting about the "Demon Prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth", who ruthlessly strives to end every trial in a "guilty" verdict, no matter what it takes, and has not lost a single case in his whole career. The article is dated to 2015.2.) A stack of assorted case files, the prosecutor attending to each is given as "Mr. Miles Edgeworth" They are dated 2012-2015. Every one of them paints the image of a trial that ended ridiculously quickly, and in every single one of them, the Defendant was positively destroyed by the end.3.) A file about a certain item:The KeybladeA legendary weapon said to have both destroyed the world and saved it.It can open almost any lock, physical or metaphysical, hence its name.Even more amazingly, the wielder of a Keyblade can call it into their hand with a mere thought, without a need to carry it around on their person!Keyblade Wielders used to be organized in orders, led by the most experienced of them, referred to as "Masters".The last known remaining such order currently under the leadership of Master Aqua, the Lady of the Castle of Departure.4.) A piece of blank paper, which has an USB flash-drive taped to it. The flashdrive is labeled as "Monika.chr"Junko: "Hmn?"
(She'd been checking something by the shelf. Now her attention is back on Goro.)
Junko: "Fwhah~ I couldn't find anything even remotely useful on that shelf over there, but you went and stumbled upon all this? No wonder I'm the sidekick~"
(He finishes reading and hands the files to Junko.)
Goro: "At least now we know one thing for sure."
Goro: "This whole thing was premeditated. I think that goes without saying regardless, but these records prove it."
Goro: "What do you want to do with them?"
Junko: "... You don't plan on showing everyone this, do you? All this stuff seems important, but we can't possibly know who to trust just yet..."
Junko: (low voice) "If this pointed out towards the mastermind's identity, and they knew that we knew... we'd be screwed, wouldn't we?"
Goro: "The thought has crossed my mind once or twice, yes. The truth is, any of the people we've met already could be complicit in this game."
(He hides the documents.)
Goro: "For now, this will do. And if any of our friends here are less than forthcoming about their backgrounds, we will have to be on guard. Keep your eye on them."
(A phone is ringing loudly outside.)
Goro: "Is that..?"
(Just then, Monika bursts through the door.)
(She seems out of breath and rather terrified.)
Monika: "Junko? Akechi? You guys in here?"
(She steps into the room slowly and pulls the door shut behind her.)
Junko: "What are you doing here? I thought you got sick. And what's with the rushing? Did something happen? Honestly, kids these days... Making us worry over nothing."
(Junko stares at Monika.)(Monika stares back.)Monika: "I did get sick, but it passed pretty quickly. It was definitely a one time thing... And who are you calling kid? I bet I'm older than you."Monika: "Found anything yet? Maybe a way to get all of those bolts off of the windows? Or maybe a key of some kind? We have a few locks to open after all..."
Junko: "I technically didn't find anything like that, but maybe it could help."
Junko: "Is something happening outside? I'd assumed phones wouldn't work in here, so I didn't even try it, but maybe..."Monika: "The ringing was a hotel phone, I think. All of the rooms have them, and I bet that we'll be able to call other rooms on them."
Monika: "That'll be useful whenever someone gets stranded on a floor after we use the elevator!"
Monika: "Your phone probably won't work because there's no way that the creep behind this was dumb enough to let us have a way to contact the outside world."
(She stops staring at Junko and looks around.)
Monika: "How have you been seeing in here? Because I want to look over there."
(She focuses on the shelf.)Junko: "I already looked through the shelf, and there was absolutely nothing of use except for this screwdriver handle."Junko: "No paper, no pens, nothing! Don't even try to enter without your phone or you'll fall on your butt."(Just then, a red light goes on.)In the Storage Room, a large red light-bulb on the phone on the wall would suddenly come alive with a bright shine.
Just seconds later, the phone starts ringing.
(If it were to be answered, the person answering would totally hear the cheap Tokusatsu show in the background, by the way.)Goro: "Ah! To think there would be a phone in a room like this..!"
(Goro takes the phone)
(As he begins talking on the phone, the girls converse among themselves in the light bulb's red shine...)
Junko: (nervously) "What exactly is your deal...? You've been acting the most suspicious out of all of us ever since we met, but I can't put my finger on why. You can't be behind all of this, but you're STILL..."
Monika (smirking): "If you think I'm the most suspicious one here, you really haven't been paying attention."
Monika: "There's a strange person in a mask, a man with an unopenable briefcase, and even a girl who claims to not know what stairs are."
Monika: "I'm just a high school girl, like you. Now, when you want to stop lying to me, I'll share something I found with you."
Monika: "Either way, I think you're right about my secret... And I think we'll be walking out of this hotel together."
(Monika leans back and stretches)
Monika: "Unless I'm totally off base, of course! Hey, I just realized, you remind me of my friend Yuri. It's your eyes, I think. They totally look like hers in this light!"
(Junko shivers with excitement, then laughs.)
Junko: "Aah, whatever! I'll find out your secret eventually, right? And until that happens, I'm sure we're gonna have a lot of fun. This whole thing has been super-duper fun! I know you agree with me, so let's keep working together!"
Junko: "We're literally ALL suspicious here. I wasn't trying to single you out, y'know? That kind of super-duper self absorption is why you keep weirding me out so much. And about my eyes... heh."
Junko: "You should probably be taking better care of your friends, in that case~"
Monika (smirks): "Oh, don't worry! My friends are totally taken care of. I don't think I'm ever going to have to worry about them again, you know?"
Monika: "Why did the light come on, anyway? Did the switch start working?"
(Meanwhile, on the phone.)
Junko (tilts her head): "So...?"
Goro: "What are you two gossiping about? Oh well, never mind. I'm glad to see you're both getting on."
Goro: "I've told our friend with the cravat that we'll help with searching the guests' rooms."
Goro: "Come to think of it, where are the guests in the first place? I don't suppose we'll get many answers if we keep asking questions like those."
Junko: "Um, I don't want to intrude, since I'm not the detective here, but... Aren't we supposed to be the guests here?"
Junko: "We woke up in our respective rooms, and there's no one else here aside from the elevator lady. Maybe you should be looking for the reason we're guests here in the first place."
Goro: "I don't think you're wrong, but there's a problem."
Goro: "Why would our host test us with puzzles while simultaneously going to the effort of pairing us up and sorting us into rooms like real guests?"
Goro: "Beyond just amusement, what could their goal be?"
Goro: "At any rate, we're not going to make any progress if we postulate without evidence."
Goro: "Mr Edgeworth has started with Room #509 and his team will be working clockwise, so it would make sense for us to make our way to the room immediately counter-clockwise of 509."
Junko: (boastfully) "Let us go, then! Our talents are needed somewhere else~! Monika, will you dare come with us, you commoner?"
Monika: "Of course! I can't let you guys discover anything without me~!"
(They leave the room.)
(Goro hesitates when he hears noise from the Utility. He turns.)
Monika: "Huh. I hear that too. It's probably just one of the other groups being rowdy. None of our business. We should stick to investigating the rooms."
Monika: "Maybe we'll find something important, like an additional rules list!"
Monika: "Or maybe something pointing to one of the other people stuck here being the mastermind! They could be walking among us and we wouldn't even know it!"
Junko (giggling): "Jesus, girl, can you sound any more suspicious? If I didn't know you I'd have to think whether that's a doble or a triple bluff! I kinda wanna check it out, now! Doesn't that sound like Utility?"
Junko: "Then again... I'm not supposed to call the shots here, am I? What kind of sidekick would I be if I did that?"
Junko: "Akechi... Should we go check out that noise, or should we leave it to the others?"
>YES
>NO
Goro: "At the moment, time is of the essence. We have not seen the truth of this game yet, but we cannot keep checking in on our friends like this."
Goro: "I know it sounds awful, but our best option is to trust in the system we've devised. "
Goro: "On the off chance that something really is wrong, I don't think we should jeopardise two teams, let alone a group that has what I assume is zero combat experience."
Goro: "Not yet, anyway. Let's make our way to Room 511 and call Mr Edgeworth again. And make sure you both keep an ear out for now."CONTINUED IN NEXT PART
- Hitsugi/Adachi/Spidey:
(The group enters the Utility. They leave the door open a bit for light, but it's not much.)
(Adachi is still mumbling to himself absentmindedly...)
Adachi: "Tsk... Pesky little brat..."
Spider-Man: "Hmm. We're definitely going to need a light to look around in here..."
(He snaps his fingers.)
Spider-Man: "Oh, I know. I'll just have to use my trusty Spider-Signal!"
(He activates a light-bulb that casts light in the shape of his mask.)
Spider-Man: "What do you guys think? Pretty cool, huh?"
Adachi: "Whoa! That's a fancy thing you've got. Is it some kind of night vision function?"
Spider-Man: "Well, actually I tend to use it to spook goons and announce my arrival."
Spider-Man: "Obviously only when it's the sort I can take down easily, like a mugger or a group trying to break in somewhere."
Spider-Man: "Still, it makes a handy light too as you've seen. No night vision though, I'm not exactly rich like Iron Man or the Avengers..."
Hitsugi: "You carry that gadget with you all the time?"
Hitsugi: "In any case, it should be enough to find the light switch..."
Hitsugi: "Hmm... Usually, the light switch is near the doorway, right? Or is it on the other side of the room? Wait... Is that it?"
Adachi: "You found it? Here, let me see if I can find it..."
(Adachi doesn't quite see what's in front of him and stumbles over a laundry basket.)
Adachi: "Hey wha--WHOA!!"
> ...*Bump-CRASH!*
Adachi: "Ugh... Agh... Damn..."
> ....
> ....
> ....?
> A faint red aura is emitting from Adachi...
> It doesn't seem he's aware of it.
(Hitsugi sees the ominous aura and shoots Spider-Man a glance.)
(Spider-Man seems even more alarmed.)
Spider-Man: "Hey, you ok Detective Adachi?"
Adachi: "Ugh, ghhhh......"
> The red aura is intensifying..."
Adachi: "Son of a BITCH! I'm SICK of this bullshit always happening to me!"
(He slams his fist into a wall, unaware of what is happening.)
Adachi: "Of all the goddamn things to happen to me... I can't just have a peaceful life locked up where I belong."
Adachi: "Oh no, I have to be pushed around running errands every freaking time someone pulling the strings in the afterlife has to take a piss!"
Adachi: "And now some kid thinks playing detective makes him special while I'm skulking around in the darkness like a pathetic moron! Saving cats? He knows nothing, that piece of shit..."
(He slams the wall again.)
Adachi: "DAMMIT!!!"
(At that moment, with a sound like shattering glass, his Persona appears, for everyone to see.)
Magatsu-Izanagi: "......."
Hitsugi: (Oh, crap!)
(Alarmed, Hitsugi takes a battle-stance. She seems ready to fight.)
(So does Spidey.)
Hitsugi: "Hey... are you okay?"
Spider-Man: "Hey er, Detective Adachi, you hearing us?"
Adachi: "...?!"
(Adachi finally snaps out of his rage.)
Adachi: "Magatsu-Izanagi...?"
Adachi: "What the hell are you doing here?"
(With a flick of Adachi's hand, the creature disappears into a rain of light.)
(The atmosphere is awkward...)
Adachi: "...I can explain, really."
Hitsugi: "An explanation would help, yeah."
Just then, a red light bulb illuminated the Utility, pointing towards the room's phone, which began to ring.
Hitsugi: "Hey Spider-Man, can you take the phone?"
Spider-Man: "Yeah, I guess someone should..."
(As Spider-Man goes to take the phone, Adachi awkwardly begins to explain himself to Hitsugi.)
Adachi: "That was my Persona. It's a cool giant being that comes out of me and fights monsters and stuff! It isn't supposed to show up in the real world though..."
Hitsugi: "It's not supposed to show up in the real world..? "Where is it supposed to show up, then?"
Adachi: "It's supposed to show up in this other world, and... honestly, this is a long story and there's a lot of information to get into... Perhaps this is something I can explain later."

DIALOGUE
- Edgeworth/Aqua/Aleka:
CONTINUED(Aqua waits until someone picks up, then speaks.)
Aqua: "Umm... This is me, Aqua."
Aqua: "Can anybody hear me on the other side of this?"
Spider-Man: "Ah, hi Aqua, this is the Spider-man call in hour. How can I help you?"
Aqua: "Ah! So it really works. That's great!"
Aqua: "It's good to hear your voice. You were... The man in the mask, right? Spider-Man. Is everything alright over with your group?"
Spider-Man: "That's right, no autographs right now I'm afraid though. Er... yeah we're doing fine here though."
Aqua: "Good, then..."
Aqua: "I'm calling from one of the guest rooms right now. It looks like we can use these to keep in contact across rooms..."
Aqua: "Anyway, we have a problem with an electric device over here."
Aqua: "There's something stuck in the wall, but we can't get it out as long as the electricity in this room is working."
Aqua: "Sir Edgeworth said there might be something in your room to help with that, an electrical control station of sorts. Would you mind checking?"
Spider-Man: "Ah sure, give me a sec... I'll see what we can do."
Spider-Man: "I'll get us more light first, then we can try and work out if there's a way to control the power here."
Aqua: "You didn't have the lights on already?"
Spider-Man: "Oh, yeah it's a pretty big room here, hard to find a light switch in such a big room in the dark."
Aqua: "Anyway... Can you see anything that looks like what we need?"
(There is a loud crashing sound.)The breaker box' lock may be sturdy, but it starts cracking! Just a tiny bit more and the door should come off. Either Spidey pulls a little harder, or somebody helps him out.The breaker box' door gives in and breaks open. Congratulations, Spider-Man! You have now full control over the floor's electricity and water distribution. There is two switches for every room, one for power, one for water.
Spider-Man: "So, I've got it open. Had to give it a bit of the ol' Spidey magic as it was locked."
Spider-Man: "Anyway, I've got control of it all here it seems, so which room did you need again?"
Aqua: "We're in Room 505. Please try turning off the electricity. If it works, the lights should go out in here..."With a *tch!* the lights in Room #505 went off. At once, Aqua, Edgeworth and Aleka - who was still unconscious - were left in the dark. The phone briefly powered down as well, but quickly came back online, along with a red lamp shining brightly from it. Apparently, having the power-cut mid-call activates the emergency power source.
Aqua: "Alright. That did it, thank you! We'll try to see if we can get that thing out of the wall now."
Spider-Man: "Sure, careful you don't get your hand caught or anything though."
(While Aqua did her phone call, Edgeworth approached Aleka.)
Edgeworth: "Are you feeling better? You should take more caution before acting."
Aleka: "But... You said you needed it..."
Edgeworth: "Though it pains me to say I'm used to being around people who act before thinking."
Aleka: "I'm sorry... Did I do something wrong?"
Edgeworth: "..."
Edgeworth: "So, how has this place been for the past few days? When we first met, you seemed surprised to see us."
Edgeworth: "... Have you been alone all this time?"
Aleka: "..."She was quiet. It didn't seem as if she could easily understand what was asked of her. After a while, she nodded her head a little.
Aleka: "I didn't know... There were other people."
Aleka: "Wait, well.. I did know. But I didn't think about it... Not until now, I don't think."She was really wrecking her brain here, trying to come up with answers.
Aleka: "If I understand what you're saying... Then there's places outside of here? And you come from there? Hmmm..."Quietly, she brushes her hair with her hand.
Aleka: "That's so weird... Trying to imagine a place different from here. This place has always been the same, as long as I can think."
Aleka: " That is... You could use the Elevator by yourself before. And there were these 'stair' things... But I dunno why they disappeared. Isn't that normal? Hmm..."Aleka turned to look at Edgeworth.
Aleka: "Mr? You... you were Mr. Edgeworth, right?"Aleka's eyes were intent.
Aleka: "The way you talk and put everything together, and try to make sense of it all sounds so smart! You must be doing this a lot... Do you work in law-enforcement?"There, for just a second, something was different. Just for a moment, Aleka's voice, which had always seemed so childlike and thin up to this point, sounded a tad more firm, a little more mature. More befitting of the age the young woman appeared to be.
Edgeworth: "Yes, I do work in law enforcement."
Edgeworth: "I'm a prosecutor – I uncover the truth surrounding a crime, to make sure that if someone has broken the law, they will face justice accordingly. The work does involve a lot of putting things together..."
Edgeworth: "...Not unlike what you're doing right now, actually."
Edgeworth: "I'm impressed... that was an astute observation, Aleka, and the conclusion you drew from it was quite logical."
Edgeworth: "I see you're no stranger to what law enforcement is. Tell me, where did you learn about it?"
Aleka: "..."Aleka fell silent. She starred at the man before her for a short while, before lowering her head a little. For some reason, she seemed frightened.
Aleka: "Did I say something I wasn't supposed to say?"
Edgeworth: "No, it's nothing like that. I just didn't expect you to..."
Edgeworth: "Never mind."
Aleka: "I... I don't really know. It just felt right. To say that you must be someone like that..."She raised her chin again, trying to look Edgeworth in the eyes, but not quite managing.
Aleka: "A 'Prosecutor', huh? ...That's kind of scary."
Aleka: "Basically, it means that you... start fights, right?"
Aleka: "I couldn't do that. I wouldn't know who to stick with... or who to sort it out again."
Aleka: "I... don't like it when people are fighting."
Edgeworth: "Prosecutors don't start fights. Our job is to make sure the ones that started them face the consequences of their actions."
Edgeworth: "Also, you don't have to pick sides. All you need is to always stay close to the truth, and it'll eventually show itself."
Aleka: "The truth..."
Aleka repeated Edgeworth's word, thoughtful. Something about it seemed to resonate with her.
Aleka: "That would sure be nice... If every problem had a solution that you can just find."UA)pleeokkadfeadlilufsi.ffnju
Aleka: "...!"Mid-conversation, she suddenly passes out.
Edgeworth: "Aleka!"
(He rushes to her side, tries to give first aid. She seems fine, however.)
Edgeworth: "Aqua, are you still on the phone? We might need-"
(The lights go off.)
Edgeworth: "..."
Edgeworth: "A light source. We might need a light source right now. Miss Aleka has fainted."
Aqua: "H-Huh!? What---"
Aqua: "Oh no...! How..!?
Spider-Man: "Er... everything ok over there?"
Aqua: "Um... Aleka passed out."
Aqua: "I'm sorry. I'll need to cut the conversation here, I need to check on the others. Thank you for all your help! We'll see you in a bit!"
(Aqua cuts the call and runs to join Edgeworth.)
Aqua: "What happened?"
Edgeworth: "We were just talking when she suddenly passed out without warning."
Aqua: "I don't think she's hurt or sick... Not seizing either. What's going on?"
Edgeworth: "Aqua, could you open the door? If the lights are on in the hallway, they should spill into this room enough to see by."
Aqua: "Alright, just a second."
(With great timing, there's a knock at the door.)
Monika: "Sir Edgeworth? It's Monika! I have a question from A-team! Uh, that's Akechi, Junko, and I..."
(Aqua hurries and opens the door.)At once, light spilled into the room. The rays of the yellowish lamps out in the hallway hit Aleka's eyelids, which then trembled. The young woman was beginning to wake.
Aleka: "Um... What...?"She muttered, sleep-drunk.
Aleka: "Uh... v-voice..."
Edgeworth: "Aleka! Are you alright? You passed out on us. How are you feeling?"Aleka was beginning to come back to again. She blinked a little bit, before Edgeworth's face finally came in focus for her. Shaking her head, she sat back up.
Aleka: "That was... weird...huh..."
Aleka: "I thought I heard a voice just now..."She looked at Edgeworth then.
Aleka: "I am okay though. Why do you look so shocked, Mr. Edgeworth? Did something bad happen?"
Edgeworth: "Well... you suddenly passed out. It gave me quite a shock. That's normally a sign something bad has happened."
Edgeworth: "But you do seem to be fine... which is certainly a good thing."
(Meanwhile, Aqua speaks to Monika.)
Aqua: "Oh, it's you! Um... 'Monika' was your name, right? What brings you here?"
Edgeworth: "Ah, thank you Miss Monika. Where are Detective Goro and Miss Junko now?"
Aqua: "And what happened to your hand?"
Monika: "Those two are in room 515, I think. Anyway, they probably moved on without me. I wouldn't blame them."
Monika: "I'm actually kind of bad with directions... Heck, I thought you guys were in room 503, so I ended up going there first!"
Edgeworth: "Is that so?"
Monika: "Oh, and that...I triggered a trap in another room. There was a coat with a bunch of pockets and I just started searching them."
Monika: "Some had ink bombs in them... hopefully this isn't permanent. I did get this, though."
(She hands Aqua a paper covered in blots.)
Monika: "This originally had two numbers on it, '8' and '13,' but I kinda messed it up, sorry."
Monika: "Do the numbers make any sense to you? Cause I can't figure it out..."
Aqua: "Huh..."
Aqua: "Numbers...? Seems like a clue for something, but for what? Is there anything around here that you'd need numbers for?"
Edgeworth: "May I see that, Aqua?"
Aqua: "Ah, of course."
Edgeworth: "Hmm... Well, these two numbers together could be coordinates. If I were to try to think of their significance individually..."
Edgeworth: "There are 8 of us in this hotel who are not from here. The room number 13 on this floor is skipped."
Edgeworth: "The number 8 is considered lucky in East Asian cultures. The number 13 is considered unlucky in Western cultures.
Edgeworth: "However, these are just possibilities - without any evidence, I can't say for certain that's what these numbers mean."
Edgeworth: "We need to gather more information."
(Edgeworth handed Monika back the note.)
Aqua: "I can guess what the Ink-Bombs were for though. They were probably only in the pockets that didn't have the slip of paper in them, right?"
Aqua: "...Somebody probably wanted to make sure that everyone could tell in case somebody failed to guess the correct pocket on first try."
Aqua: "So that means, this note was meant to be found as part of a puzzle. Like the thing in the wall here. Hm..."
Edgeworth: "Not a bad theory, Miss Aqua. Which reminds me, we should pull that thing out, now that the electricity's off. Would you mind?"
Aqua: "Right, I'm on it."
(Aqua goes and yanks the screwdriver head out of the wall.)Edgeworth's guesses were, of course, well-informed. He could not have known that there was, in fact, another part to the puzzle, one that had already been found and removed from its original location. With things in such disarray, would our friends ever figure out the secrets of this floor? So far, quite a lot of progress had been made.Akechi Goro held Aleka's apple. The boxes in the Storage Room were opened by Akechi Goro. The apple in the dryer in the Utility was picked up by Tohru Adachi.Junko Enoshima was currently wearing a coat. The safe in room 517 remained unopened.Likewise for Edgeworth's briefcase. And who knew if there wasn't another mystery still left in the rooms they hadn't yet examined?
Monika: "I also came here to tell you guys that the power stayed on in the storage room after the phone call ended."
Monika: "Akechi said it was important, and I'm not gonna question a genuine detective!"
Monika: "Wait, what's wrong with Aleka? Did you say she passed out?"Aleka, meanwhile, has followed the other two into the doorway. She seems up and about again.
Aqua: "Yes, briefly before we had the others turn the electricity in this room off. She just collapsed."
Aqua: "...Though, you seem to be doing better now, Aleka."
Aleka: "...?"Confused, Aleka tilted her head a little.
Aleka: "What? Was I doing badly? I'm sorry if I worried you. I think I just fell asleep. I thought I heard a voice, too..."
Edgeworth: "You heard a voice? ...hmm. Do you know what it said?"
Aleka: "Hm... I'm not sure. Come to think, I'm not even sure it was a voice. Just, words... somewhere... In my head? No, not quite..."Aleka continued to try and remember, when suddenly, she heard an announcement.
Aleka: "Oh!"It sounded important, so decided to not talk over it.From somewhere above the heads of our heroes, an announcement, spoken in the same voice as the warm woman's voice that would deliver error messages on the internal phone line, rung out:"Attention, all guests. Currently. Four. Keys have been retrieved. I repeat: Four. Keys have been retrieved. It currently remain: Three. Keys. Please continue to enjoy your stay."
Edgeworth: "... Perhaps we should pick up the pace."
Monika: "Ok, sounds good to me. I'm sure Akechi misses me a lot! Maybe Junko too, in her own way."
Monika: They sure are an odd bunch! I wonder if they have any friends."
Monika: "Wait. Three final things. First, Aleka, you shouldn't listen to voices in your head. That's a sign of schizophrenia... and you're not crazy, are you?"
Aleka: "...? Hm? Schizo...?"Aleka tilted her head at that slightly.
Aleka: "That's not quite right... Schizophrenia means a lot more than just hallucinations..."
Aleka: "Like, flat affect, disorderly thought patterns, withdrawal, disorderly sleep-patterns... umm..."
Aleka: "Wait. What am I talking about...?"
Edgeworth: "..."The confusion quickly took hold of her attention and Aleka fell silent, lost in thought.
Monika: "Second, Sir Edgeworth... You're not related to Gregory Edgeworth by any chance, are you?"
Edgeworth: "..!"
Monika: "I mean, he was a lawyer too until DL-6- Ah!"
Monika: "Sorry, that's probably rude to talk about if you are related. My bad. Anyway, third thing!"
Monika: "You guys need to start thinking about who we're going to leave behind. Seven keys for nine people? The math doesn't add up... even I know that."
Aqua: "...!"
Monika: "Just something to think about. Maybe one of the heroic men can sacrifice themselves. Bye!"
(Monika leaves.)
Aqua: (I can feel powerful negativity... Something the Darkness just loves to feed off of...)
Edgeworth: "Aqua could you -"
(Aqua has been using magic to light her way while retrieving the screwdriver head. Edgeworth now notices.)
Edgeworth: "... could you plug in the mini-bar? I'm going to call Utility and ask them to turn the electricity back on."
Aqua: "...Sure. I'll put that cable back where it was then..."
*click*
Edgeworth: "We can move on to the next room as soon as we check the mini-bar for clues after it turns on."
Edgeworth's call to the Utility connected.
(He dials 512)
Spider-Man: "Yyello, Spider-man hotline! I'll be your Spidey for today, how may I help you?"
Edgeworth: "Hello, this is Edgeworth calling from Room 505. We're about finished here, please turn the electricity back on."
Spider-Man: "Got it, please hold, and do excuse the lack of hold music..."
(Hitsugi can be heard snickering in the background.)
(A switch is flipped. The Light comes on in Room 505.)
Spider-Man: "Thank you for choosing the Spider-man hotline, my name is Spider-man, please don't forget to leave a customer review, and especially don't forget my name has a hyphen."
Spider-Man: "So, how is Aleka doing?"
Edgeworth: "Aleka's regained consciousness and is doing fine now, thank you. Also, the electricity is back on. Was there anything else you wanted to discuss, Spider-man?"
Edgeworth: "If not, I'll be hanging up so my team can move on to the next room."
Spider-Man: "Straight down to business huh? Well, I'm glad to hear she's doing well."
Edgeworth: "The only other thing I guess is that we managed to find one of those golden apples just now, so I'm assuming that could be why that announcement was made."
Edgeworth: "That leaves us with one so far. We were just about to go check out somewhere else as this room seems about done, although we've got to decide who's going to be on switch duty."
Edgeworth: "Only one...?"
Edgeworth: "We haven't found any such apples. We pulled a screwdriver head out of the electrical socket, but we don't yet know its significance..."
Edgeworth: "If you'll be searching the rooms, my team and I have already searched from room 509 moving clockwise, and we'll be continuing down this corridor on the right side of the map."
Edgeworth: "Detective Goro said he and his team would be taking the other side of the hotel and meeting us in the middle..."
(Edgeworth pauses.)
Edgeworth: "In any case, perhaps you and the rest of your group should investigate the rooms in the middle."
Edgeworth: I'm not sure which rooms the other team has already checked, perhaps you should ask, if you can find them. It would likely save you time."
(He hangs up.)
Edgeworth: "Aqua."
Edgeworth: "Did you see Miss Junko walk by a few moments ago? Did you notice if she was wearing something different from when we first met her?"
Edgeworth: "Also, Aleka, do you mind sharing with us the words you heard in your head? They might be important."
Aqua: "Come to think, I might have seen someone pass by when the door was open earlier."
Aqua: "I didn't pay attention to who it was, since we were busy with Aleka collapsing, but it might have been Junko. The girl with the pigtails, right? I think she was wearing a jacket of sorts..."
Aqua: "Why do you ask? Did you notice something about her?"
Aqua: "Because personally, I've been more worried about what Monika has been doing... The way she speaks gives me an odd feeling."
Aqua: "Not that the same isn't true for that other girl, but... You heard what she said to you just a few minutes ago, right? I assume she knows a lot more about you than we know about her."
Aqua: "I think she's trying to make us nervous, so she's definitely scheming something. We need to keep our cool and guard up around her."
Aqua: "I agree with you though. We also need to figure out what happened to Aleka back there."
Aleka: "Was it really that odd? I can't really remember much, to be honest. I just felt like I should... um... not stand? It's hard to say..."
- Goro/Junko/Monika:
CONTINUEDAs Monika, Junko and Goro examine the rooms counter-clockwise, the first room they would find anything of note in would be Room #521, the first room where the safe for personal belongings seemed to be engaged.
Monika: "That's weird. None of the other safes were locked... you guys think that we'll find the combination for this somewhere, or are we just supposed to guess?"
(She puts in the code "1234" and tries to open the safe.)Upon entering the code, Monika would hear an unpleasant bleep, signaling that her input had been denied. How troublesome... Maybe there was something containing the code in another room? Something like a riddle, perhaps...?
Junko: "Obviously this safe's combination's gotta be a puzzle. And if the answer isn't in this room then it's gotta be somewhere else!"
(Meanwhile Goro examines the room.)
Goro: "Not a thing out of place," he reported back, sitting himself down on the bed with a loud thump. "If this truly is a game, however, there'll be a solution hidden somewhere."
(Junko picks up the phone.)
Junko: "There's people in the Utility Room right now, yes? D'you want me to call 'em and ask them about any funny numbers?"
Junko: "Or do you wanna think about any symbols we might've missed? Or... Hmm."
Monika: "That's an idea, but why bother playing a literal game of telephone? That can get confusing, and the loud ringing might startle people."
Monika: "You never know when someone is doing something important, like writing a poem or taking apart a minifridge!"
(Junko puts down the phone, frowns at Monika.)
Monika: "If you want, I can just walk over and ask them. They're not that far away. I mean, not that anything is that far away on a single floor of a hotel."
(Monika begins exiting the room.)
Junko: "Ah... Leaving us again? Bye bye~ Come back safe!"
Monika: "You guys promise to tell me if you find anything else, right? I mean, I don't have a great feeling about our search chances, but still..."
Goro: "Alright, we'll make sure we haven't missed anything in this room."
Goro: "Don't take too long, though. We're in groups of three for a reason, after all."
Goro: "Oh, one more thing! Please make sure you inform Mr Edgeworth that the phone he called earlier remained active if you can find him."
(Monika nods.)
Monika: "Phone remained active, got it. I'll be right back, promise! I'm not the type of person to get lost easily, you know."
(She leaves.)
Goro: "..."
(Goro leans against the door and summons his Persona, Robin Hood, to stalk after Monika. He motions Junko to be quiet.)
Junko: (exhilarated) "Hey... That thing you're doing... What is that? Are you some kind of ESPer? I really really don't get it... Is this why you're a genius detective?"
Junko: "...You'll teach me how to do it, right? If you're seeing through walls then that can only mean one thing..."
Goro: "Did you say ESP?"
Goro: "I wouldn't say it's like that, exactly. You could say I have a gift. All I know is, one day everything changed."
Goro: "It makes it easier to do my job, as a detective who protects people. "
(Robin Hood observes Monika entering Room 503)UA)pleeokkadfeadlilufsi.ffnjuCrowbar breaksWait, was there even a crowbar anyway? Oh well, if there was, it is now broken in halves. Now, just how did that happen?
Goro: "... While I'm keeping an ear out, can you check the safe again? There must be something more here."
Goro: "If the same code has been used repeatedly, which is likely in a hotel room, there will probably be visible fingerprints on the keys that have been pressed most often."
(Monika leaves Room 503, frustratedly talking to herself, starring at a wall. Her right hand is stained with ink, she is holding a piece of paper.)
Monika: "Well... This sucks."
(She approaches Room 505.)
Monika: "Sir Edgeworth? It's Monika! I have a question from A-team! Uh, that's Akechi, Junko, and I..."
(Junko, meanwhile, finds nothing.)
Junko: "Ugh... Why did I even check again? If something as obvious as fingerprints or tracks had been left behind I'd have SO obviously noticed."
Junko: "There's nothing here! Honestly, just because you're a handsome pleasant detective ESPer doesn't mean you can look down on me..."
Goro: "No fingerprints..."
Goro: "That's odd, wouldn't you say? Maybe the true culprit wiped down any evidence they didn't want us using to circumvent their game."
Junko: "Erasing evidence, huh? Yes, that could be very possible."
(Goro dismisses his Persona.)
Goro: "This may not shock you, but that girl made a detour into five-oh-three on the way to Mr Edgeworth's group."
Goro: "The more surprising aspect is, she stopped to stare at an empty space on one of the walls first. I can't say for sure, but it was almost as if... as if she was communicating with something."
Goro: "Of course, that's just a hypothesis but... you get the idea, right? There's something supernatural about her."
(Junko grins at the mention of the supernatural.)
Junko: "Room 503, right? We should head there right now. She might have left something behind that proves she's supicious."
Junko: " For all we know, she already has the safe combination, and is waiting for the perfect time to go for it. Isn't that right?"
(With a silly curtsy Junko opened the door, and gently took Goro outside.)
Goro: "We can head there now, that's fine, but let's be quick about it if we can. It won't be suspicious for us to continue searching the rooms like we said we would, but maybe it would be a good idea for us to split up so we aren't seen to deviate from our route."
Goro: " I'll come find you once I've swept the rest of the rooms."
Junko: "Aah, maybe I underestimated Akechi a little too much too! Yes, that's right. Miss Monika, not unlike you, has something unnatural to hide!"
Junko: "Something so special, something so outrageous even I can't wrap my head around it. Maybe we should reconsider taking that thingy down with us to the next floor..."
(Goro and Junko split up. She goes to Room 503, he to Room 517.)
(Junko leaves Room 503, wearing a jacket. She heads Goro's way.)
Junko: "Yahoo~"
Goro: "..."
(Goro examines her dress.)
Goro: "I see you've found something entertaining, no?"
Goro: "There was some kind of indent in one of the pillows in that room, but I don't recall anyone having woken up in there..."
Goro: "... Clear signs of tampering with evidence."
Goro: "Go on, then. What's so special about that coat of yours?"
(Junko raises and eyebrow at Goro's insincerity and takes off the coat.)
Junko: "Ignoring the fact that such old fashioned awful clothing seems amiss in a hotel like this..."
Goro: "If we're being completely honest with one another, I can't say I'm entirely up to date on the world of fashion. But maybe that's apparent enough already."
Junko: "...take a look at this pocket right here!"
(She points out ink bombs.)
Junko: "Be careful with those, they're pretty fragile! I was able to get them all out. There were a bunch of 'em in each and every pocket of the jacket..."
Junko: "Except for two. This one right here, and this one!"
Junko: "Before you ask... No, it was completely empty! Monika must've been lookin' for something and accidentally triggered a trap."
Junko: "But what's the point of a trap if you're gonna be able to take the prize anyway...? How puzzling..."
Goro: "The thing that's bothering me, is the deception that this girl has tried to employ."
Goro: "I have to say, my pride is kind of hurt. What kind of person would have such confidence in themselves that they would lie to a detective without a moment's hesitation?"
Goro: "Do you remember the files we procured earlier? Perhaps they were not the only items in this hotel that existed to shed light on our companions."
Goro: "Her actions have been unlike those of our other teammates and I think I know why. That girl is trying to destroy evidence, which is why two separate rooms have been altered."
Goro: "And I'm certain she'll make up a logical reason for having triggered an ink bomb, so it will be hard to show her real colours."
Goro: "She suspects that there might be something incriminating out there, something that would turn us all against her."
Goro: "Or perhaps she already came across something like that and became determined to raid the rest of the floor covertly, just in case there were other such items lying around."
Goro: "In the meantime, I expect she wants to ensure that she will move down to the next floor, then the next, and so on until we are all trapped here and she can return to whence she came."
Junko: "Obviously she has something to hide... There's something seriously wrong with her. I was surprised it took you this long to notice, Akechi."
Junko: "But focusing on her too much would do you no good! Is that perhaps a crush I'm spying?"
Junko: "It may be true that she took Room 503's hint and obscured it with ink, as you witnessed. Moreover, she has been observed running around the floor fervently looking for something."
Junko: "However, we can't discard the possibility of someone else tampering with the evidence you found in there."
Goro: "There's something more to it, something involving what she was doing earlier with that wall. But I don't know what just yet."
Goro: " And I doubt we'll find any proof of her misdeeds unless she's left something on her person, which is unlikely - but the two of us will know the truth regardless."
Junko: "I wouldn't worry about her that much for now~! ☆ We still need to solve the safe puzzle, after all!"
Junko: "Besides, we still have that thingy to use as leverage, yes? I bet you 10¥ that's exactly what's she's looking oh so desperately for. We'll totally be okay!"
(She pointed towards Room 517)
Junko: "Or anywhere else for that matter. Don't ever forget that there might be more enemies around, willing to leave us behind for their own benefit..."
(Goro nods and examines the Apple's incription again.)
Goro: "You're right about that much. We need to figure out these puzzles if we're to have any chance of moving forward."With things in such disarray, would our friends ever figure out the secrets of this floor? So far, quite a lot of progress had been made.Akechi Goro held Aleka's apple. The boxes in the Storage Room were opened by Akechi Goro. The apple in the dryer in the Utility was picked up by Tohru Adachi.Junko Enoshima was currently wearing a coat. The safe in room 517 remained unopened.Likewise for Edgeworth's briefcase. And who knew if there wasn't another mystery still left in the rooms they hadn't yet examined? From somewhere above the heads of our heroes, an announcement, spoken in the same voice as the warm woman's voice that would deliver error messages on the internal phone line, rung out:"Attention, all guests. Currently. Four. Keys have been retrieved. I repeat: Four. Keys have been retrieved. It currently remain: Three. Keys. Please continue to enjoy your stay."
Junko: "Ohohohoh, what's that mean? Y'think people might have gotten ahead of us already, Boss? This is so despair-inducingly exciting~!"
(Monika comes running.)
Monika: "Oh! You guys found the jacket I ruined! Yeah, sorry about that. Someone had ink bombs in the pockets and, well..."
(She gestures to her ink stained hand.)
Goro: "Oh, hello again, "we'd been hoping to surprise you with our find but..."
Goro: "If this was your doing, then I guess that takes all the fun and guesswork out of it!"
Goro: "Did you manage to find any clues about the coat before it became damaged? Oh, and thank you for keeping Mr Edgeworth informed."
Monika: "I found a note in the chest pocket with two numbers on it: '8' and '13.' Maybe 0813 is the safe combination?"
Goro: "I see. It seems like a rather simple solution, but who am I to argue?"
Goro: "Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the puzzles were to become more difficult as we proceed, but that's neither here nor there."
Monika: "Well, we can try that next time we go back to that room. Where do you guys wanna head next?"
Goro: "This one was empty, as most of them have been so far."
(He gestures at 517.)
Goro: "Let's try five-ten now."
(They head for 510.)Entering Room 510, Akechi and his team will quickly take note of the showerhead blocked up by something shiny, which will require a screwdriver and a wrench to be dismantled...
Monika: "Well, that sucks. You guys have anything that might be able to dismantle that? Like a screwdriver, or a wrench, or even just really strong hands?"
Monika: "If not, we might as well head to a different room. We can't really help here."
Junko: "Ah, I have something that can help! Half of something, at least."
(She reveals the Screwdriver Handle.)
Junko: "It's gonna be pretty useless without the metal parts, though! I need someone to complete me!"
(She gives Akechi a meaningful grin.)
Junko: "Or maybe we could, y'know, just break it o~pen! Forget the puzzles! If only there was someone manly enough to do that around here... Right, Monika-chan?"
Monika: "Yeah, that's who's hands I was thinking of!"
Monika: "Come on, Akechi! Can't you just break open a liiiiiitle obstruction? I'll write a poem about you if you do. You know, like Beowulf."
Goro: "Beowulf? You'll have to forgive me, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to literature. Is that a foreign work?"
Goro: "Moreover, my talents are more to do with brainwork than heavy lifting."
(He still examines the thing a little closer.)
Goro: "Yes, I doubt there's anything I can do to take this apart, certainly not without hurting myself in the process."
Goro: "Sorry to disappoint."
Monika: "... why don't we go back to the safe, then? I want to try a code or two, and I don't want you guys getting surprised when the safe is open later."
Monika: "We're supposed to be a team, right?"
(Monika laughs again, patting Akechi on the shoulder sort of... Proudly?)
- Hitsugi/Adachi/Spidey:
CONTINUED
(Spider-Man takes the call.)(Aqua waits until someone picks up, then speaks.)
(He searches the light switch, finally finds and presses it.)
Spider-Man: "I'll get us more light first, then we can try and work out if there's a way to control the power here."
Aqua: "You didn't have the lights on already?"
Spider-Man: (nervous.) "Oh, yeah it's a pretty big room here, hard to find a light switch in such a big room in the dark."
Aqua: "Anyway... Can you see anything that looks like what we need?"
(Spider Man finds the breaker box. He examines it for a while, before using his super strength to try and pry it open violently.)The breaker box' lock may be sturdy, but it starts cracking! Just a tiny bit more and the door should come off. Either Spidey pulls a little harder, or somebody helps him out.
(Hitsugi takes her attention off Adachi for a bit.)
Hitsugi: "Hey, uh, Spider-Man? What are you doing?"
Spider-Man: "Oh, it was Aqua on the phone, she said there's something stuck in the wall in the room they're in, but it's electrified so they can't grab it."
Spider-Man: "Apparently that cravat guy I think suggested she phone us as there might be a way to cut the power in here, and sure enough I found the breaker box."
Spider-Man: "I dunno if there's a key but, well I don't really see much point in us fiddling around for that if I can just... pull the lock off."The breaker box' door gives in and breaks open. Congratulations, Spider-Man! You have now full control over the floor's electricity and water distribution. There is two switches for every room, one for power, one for water.Hitsugi: "Hey, you got it open!"(He gives her thumbs up.)
Spider-Man: (into phone) "So, I've got it open.
Spider-Man: "Sure, careful you don't get your hand caught or anything though."UA)pleeokkadfeadlilufsi.ffnju
Edgeworth: (through the phone in the distance) "Aleka!"
Aqua: "H-Huh!? What---"
Aqua: "Oh no...! How..!?
Spider-Man: "Er... everything ok over there?"
Aqua: "Um... Aleka passed out."
Aqua: "I'm sorry. I'll need to cut the conversation here, I need to check on the others. Thank you for all your help! We'll see you in a bit!"
Spider-Man: "Aleka passed out? Aqua?"
(She has already cut the call.)
(Meanwhile...)
(With the lights in the room now on, Adachi and Hitsugi could start investigating while Spider-Man was on the phone.)
(Adachi found something shining in the dryer. However, the machine wouldn't let him turn it off...)
Adachi (frustrated): "Why can't anything ever be simple in this stupid place?!"
(He angrily summons his Persona and smashes the machine to pieces.)What is it that lies in the rubble of the machine? If the group took a closer look, they'd find that it was... yet another golden apple.Apparently there were several of them hidden in this place.Be careful not to cut your hands on the plastic and metal pieces of the dryer as you retrieve it!
(Adachi sighs relieved.)
Hitsugi: "..."
(She really looks-hard pressed not to comment on the wanton destruction.)
Hitsugi: "Another golden apple?"
(She picks it up.)
Hitsugi: "Ugh. It really is solid gold. What were they thinking when they made this?"
Adachi: "Sheesh, talk about tacky. Whoever's responsible for this is certainly dedicated if they're making multiple apples made out of solid gold."
Spider-Man: "Golden apples huh? What next, will we have to recite an incantation or something? Geez... where's Doc Strange when you need him..."After retrieving the apple, Hitsugi, Adachi and Spider-Man would realize that there is nothing else to be found in this room. However, the breakers might still be relevant. Maybe someone should stay in this room?It might also be good to decide on who will hold on to the apple...
Hitsugi: "What are we gonna do about the breakers? What if someone else calls us to use it?"
Spider-Man: "Well, I guess one of us will have to stay here then at least to use these breakers if we need them again. As for who though, I have no idea, I mean I guess I wouldn't mind..."With things in such disarray, would our friends ever figure out the secrets of this floor?
Spider-Man: "Huh. Well... I guess that means these apples are the keys we're looking for right? Imagine trying to bunch seven of those on a keyring..."
Spider-Man: "I wonder who's behind all this. I've dealt with plenty of egomaniacs but... I can't say I think most them would do something like this."
Spider-Man: "It's too much of a random selection for Goblin, he always prefers the personal approach. Doc Ock would've had to say it was him by now whilst talking about how brilliant he is, and again I dunno why he'd select a random group like this."
Spider-Man: "Venom... haha.... yeah not his style. Mysterio? Eh... he'd have never passed the chance to do his hammy acting over the broadcasts."
Spider-Man: "This is like Arcade with Murderworld but... he was never one for subtlety. Nope... this doesn't feel like the work of someone I know. What about you guys?"
(Before anyone can reply, they are interrupted by the phone ringing again.)
(Hitsugi snickers in the background.)
Edgeworth: "I'm not sure which rooms the other team has already checked, perhaps you should ask, if you can find them. It would likely save you time."
(He hangs up.)
Spider-Man: "Well, apparently they managed to find a screwdriver head that was hidden in an electrified socket, which is why they needed the electricity off."
Spider-Man: "Edgeworth's team has searched 509 and they're going clockwise. Detective Goro's team are taking the other side and they'll meet in the middle."
Spider-Man: "The cravat man suggested we investigate the rooms in the middle, although he said we should probably talk to Goro's team first to find out exactly what they've searched already."
Adachi: "Huh? Uhh, sure. The middle rooms, got it. I guess we can check with the kid if you think that's for the best and all."
Spider-Man: " Hmm... what do you guys think then? We still haven't decided who might stay here with the switches of course either yet..."
Hitsugi: "Hm. Well I could stay with the switches and the phone. What about you, Adachi? Are you okay with that?"
Adachi: "It's kind of you to offer to stay behind. Are you sure you're gonna be alright...? Um..."
Adachi: "...Sorry, what was your name? Hifumi?"
Hitsugi: "Hitsugi. And I'm sure I'll be fine."
Spider-Man: "Well, if you're sure then Hitsugi. We'll go and check out the other rooms. Hopefully we should be able to phone you if anything comes up like those other guys did."
Spider-Man: "Who knows, maybe we'll even work out how to get room service here."
Spider-Man: "Say, why don't you lead the way Detective? Afterall, you're the one with a badge here."
