Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
This is the OoC Thread for the RP "Descend", over in the Nexus section.
Now, first of all, we gotta get together some characters to get the ball rolling. Anybody wanna play anyone specific in the game? First come, first serve!
(Disclaimer: These artworks are not final yet. They're just the best I could muster with my current art-block.)
Aleka
A young woman who claims to have lived in Hotel Dysnomia all her life. Does not seem to comprehend the concept of a world outside the hotel and only joins the group for company and curiousity's sake. Mild-mannered and indecisive, but a quick thinker when under pressure.
Played by: Nenilein (GM)
Megaira
The woman operating the elevator. The only one who can make the elevator move. Seemingly knows everything, but only says what she wants to say. Stoic like a brick.
Played by: Nenilein (GM)
Aqua
A young Master of the Keyblade, a weapon which can unlock and seal almost anything. Unfortunately, bolted shut windows and walls don't count as "almost anything". Intelligent, quick on her feet, magically talented and fiercely loyal to those that have earned her trust.
Franchise: Kingdom Hearts
Played by: Nenilein, Aliucon
Junko Enoshima
The "Ultimate Fashionista"... Or so she claims. Extremely intelligent to downright ridiculous levels, Junko's motivations tend to be an enigma, which might render her a wild card in this game. One player to definitely watch out for.
Franchise: Dangan Ronpa
Played by: Any1
Hitsugi Yasaka
Just your average high school girl with an average annoying older siblings and average creepy best friend. She also might have a super-combat sci-fi form that she uses to take down an evil school cult that has taken over the world (of course). But you probably guessed that already. As I said, very average.
Franchise: Phantasy Star Online
Played by: Peachy
Tohru Adachi
Low ranking police detective of the Inaba PD... Or at least, he used to be, until a certain *cough* incident removed him from his position. And legal right to freedom. Let's just say it was very deserved. Clever and good at improvising, but horribly bitter and rather entitled. Expect no loyalty to anything other than his own ideals from him... whatever those may be.
Franchise: Persona 4
Played by: Jester, Triplemathics
Spider-Man
One of the few Super Heroes who's mask actually covers enough of his face to justify him having a "secret" identity. So let me ruin it for him: Real name Peter Parker. He's a scientist and life-long nerd who came to herohood via a Spiderbite that gave him a bad case of Marvel genetics. Famous for his snark, witty banter and bad publicity.
Franchise: Spider-Man
Played by: DimitriBarronmore, Regiwi
Goro Akechi
Despite his young age, Goro is an accomplished private detective, his fame even overshadowing the prestigious legacy of the Shirogane family at times. A smooth-talker, Goro likes to make people feel comfortable around him before he voices his own, often very strong opinions. He really enjoys people's attention immensely and also has his fair share of secrets...
Franchise: Persona 5 (Allowed despite Adachi's presence because these two have never met each other.)
Played by: Reverie
Monika
The heroine of a cute dating sim! -At least, she was supposed to be... But don't worry. She'll fix things. Yes, definitely. Manipulative and goal-oriented, Monika is quite a bit more genre savvy than is good for anyone. Including her. You might want to keep a low profile around her.
Franchise: Doki Doki Literature Club
Played by: Giggles, ScarletShadow
Miles Edgeworth
Can you say "tragic rival turned ally"? This genius Prosecutor used to care about results above all else, holding a terrible childhood trauma regarding the death of his Defense Attorney father. Now, however, he's turned over a new leave - the truth is what counts, regardless of which stones he has to turn and who's egos to hurt to get there. Truth hurts, they say. He's blunt, calculating, stoic with a hidden softer side. His biggest fears are earthquakes and elevators.
Franchise: Ace Attorney
Played by: Shuda, Velle, Jessica Ilha

Why, yes. Everything that complies with the rules in the thread. In fact, I encourage eccentric or crazy choices, to make the character interactions all the more interesting!

Okay, so far we have
Junko Enoshima (Dangan Ronpa)
and
Hitsugi Yasaka (Phantasy Star Online)
I'm gonna throw Aqua (Kingdom Hearts) into the mix myself! Makes three spots filled already.
EDIT: I asked my friend Purge to join as Adachi for reasons (I have plans), and she was enthusiastic, so I'm adding him too!

Re: Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
Peter Parker has been accepted into the ranks of poor folks solving puzzles to earn an elevator ride.
You're welcome, Petey.

Re: Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
Akechi and Adachi in the same RP. This can only end well.
Anyway, Copy Cat Naoto has been inducted into our ranks.
There's only two more character slots open in the game! Please, please, PLEASE consider forming teams with other players to control the same character now! While solo-ing a character is possible, I'd appreciate it if we had at least one backup player for every character, in case a player has to go AFK for a while!

Re: Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
Quick and dirty post claiming Monika (DDLC) for a team of Scarlet and I since we work opposite shifts.
Just Monika.
Just Monika.

Oh gosh, Doki Doki Literature Club. I had only heard of this spoken in myths and fables.
This will be very interesting, indeed! Mwehahaha...

Re: Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
Alrighty!
ATTENTION!
Only one more character slot open in the game! Is there anyone who really desperately wants to join with a character of their own, rather than join a team? (Which, at this point is preferred!)
I'll be honest, I was gonna save the final slot for two people from my family who said they were interested in joining as Killua from Hunter X Hunter, but if absolutely necessary, I can expand the roster by one.
I just would rather people focus on forming groups around characters rather than adding new ones right now.

Re: Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
Aqua will now have to deal with Pokemon references for the entire RP. I hope you are happy.
Kidding, I'm psyched to have you on board! Team Aqua, go go!!
EDIT: My family members had to cancel, the 8th character slot is still up for grabs!

Re: Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
The roster is officially complete!
Please stand by as I make the final preparations! Each player group will receive a few special instructions!
The game begins once I have made the first post in the main thread!
Thank you for joining me on this journey of ours!
Re: Descend - Sign Up & OoC Discussion
Decided to do a thing to make Descend easier to follow for everyone!
Topics marked with a checkmark () are officially considered completed enough to be moved on from, but if your character is in the area and still has something to add to the conversation, you are free to let them do so! This is just to let people know which conversations still need replying to!

Descend - Script Version (INTRO: Pages 1-4)
- Click for Script!:
- You all awaken in a dazed state of mind. You'll need a few seconds to get your bearings. Maybe you were drugged? It's hard to tell. You don't feel sick at least.
No matter what room you're in, you'll quickly find a map on the wall:
"5th floor", it says. But the 5th floor of what? You can only guess.
The Utility is dark, the light switch is hard to find. It also looks like this:
The storage room, finally, is a disorderly mess of cupboards and shelves and boxes, just as poorly lit as the Utility.
Just where did you all end up...?
In the hallway, on a chair by a bolted-shut window, sits a girl who seems a little dazed...Opening Sequence
- Room 518 - Intro:
Bathroom # 518
BGM: Retired Precious Moments
Edgeworth: "Nnngh."
(After looking around a little, he carefully leaves the bathroom.)
Room # 518
Aqua: "...!"
(Surprised by a sound, Aqua approaches the door, ready to battle. She takes a stance, prepared to draw her weapon.)
(The door opens, Edgeworth appears.)
Edgeworth: (softly) "Excuse me. Do you happen to know where we are?"
Aqua: (surprised, excited) "...! No, um, Sir, I'm sorry, but I... I mean-- we're, ah..."
Aqua: "...Forgive me. It's just... It's just been very long since I've last gotten to speak to an actual person."
Aqua: "My name is Aqua. And I'm afraid I'm as clueless as you as to where this place is. The last thing I remember I... Well, I was somewhere that's definitely not anywhere close to here..."
Aqua: "Really... What is this place? Someone's bedroom? It looks rather empty for a place where anyone would live..."
Edgeworth. "It appears we're in a hotel room."
Aqua: "Ah, right. I haven't asked for your name yet, Sir."
Edgeworth: "Ah, forgive me. My name is Miles Edgeworth. Glad to meet you Aqua."
Edgeworth: "We might learn more if we look around. Which reminds me. I seem to be missing the key to my briefcase. It's made of brass, and about an inch and a half long. I would very much appreciate it if you let me know if you find such a key."
Aqua: "Miles Edgeworth..."
Aqua: (A map... I suppose hotels do have those scattered in the rooms often? I can't say if it's normal or not...)
Aqua: "It's nice to meet you too... Edgeworth. I haven't seen a key like that, but if we're going to look around... I'll look out for it..."
Edgeworth: "Thank you."
Aqua: "..."
(Aqua hears Peter Parker's voice yell from outside.)
Aqua: "...!
Aqua: "Seems like we're not the only ones confused in this hotel."
Edgeworth: "Odd. I will need to see more to confirm, but for a place that seems designed as a hotel, it's appearing to be some sort of bizarre prison."
Aqua: "A prison...?"
Edgeworth: "Miss Aqua. Did you wake up in this room? Have you been able to see if this room's door is locked?"
(She tries.)
Aqua: "It's open."
Aqua: "...Strange way to imprison someone. That is, if you are correct."
Aqua: "I woke up here, yes... I have no idea how I got here. I did feel a little dazed, though. I wonder if somebody tried to strike me down... Hm. But how would they have managed to sneak up on me? This is all weird..."
Edgeworth: "Hmmm..."
Edgeworth: "I woke up with a similar sensation. And neither do I have any recollection of how I ended up here."
Aqua: "Anyway, Sir, um... Miles. I will be going outside now. Whoever's out there probably needs help to understand what's going on here just like we do. Are you coming?"
Edgeworth: "Ah, yes, let us continue outside."
(He holds the door open for her.)
Aqua: "Oh! Thanks!"
Edgeworth: "Miss Aqua, are you normally a difficult person to catch off guard? Or is there something about where you were that made sneaking up on a person unusually difficult?"
Aqua: "Catching me off-guard...?"
Aqua: "Well, one could try. But it probably wouldn't end well for them. I don't mean to brag, but my senses are pretty sharp. It's... an occupational thing, I'd say.
Aqua: "Anyway, I was in a pretty 'dark' place when it happened, in more than one way. But I can promise you, that wouldn't have made it any easier for anyone to get in an initiative strike on me."
Aqua: "I've got, well, more practice than I ever meant to get by now... So yeah, whoever did that must have used special means."
Aqua: "Maybe it was a spell? ...But I should have been able to see that coming as well, shouldn't I...?"
(They leave.)
- Room 507 - Intro:
Room # 507
BGM: Retired Precious Moments
Goro: (What is this..? Bolts on the windows? Some sinister kind of game, perhaps. Am I being challenged? Or has that man finally decided to...)
Goro: (No, that's impossible. He needs me, so who else could have done something like this? And why haven't they just done away with me?)
Goro: "How vexing."
Junko: (annoyed) "Hey, don't you think it's weird?"
Junko: "Isn't it at least a little weird? The way I've been plagiarized?"
Goro: "Ah. I didn't realise I had company. You don't have to scare me like that, of course."
Goro: "Sorry, what were you asking me? You said that you had... been plagiarised, is that right? I don't suppose you've considered hiring a lawyer, then."
Goro: "What's more, you wouldn't happen to know where this place is, would you?"
Junko: "You'd really think I'd do that? To go on, kidnap you and then show up in your bed just like that? You must be out of your mind."
Junko: (blushing) "Actually, now that I think about it, I really would do something just like that. Something so pointless, confusing and incriminating sounds riiiight up my alley! Is that why I'm here after all?"
Junko: (hammy) "Listen up, Sherlock! Do you really think we'd be right here if I had any idea about this place at all! Use your brain!"
Goro: (terrified) "I-I apologise from the bottom of my heart if I offended you, Miss."
Goro: "My thoughts must have been written all over my face, huh? I've been told that I'm not all that great at poker, haha."
Goro: "But then, if you aren't the reason we're here, we should probably begin our investigation, wouldn't you say..?"
Junko: (energetically) "Come on, then! A new adventure is waiting for us! Isn't that exciting?"
Goro: "Sure. Sorry, I don't think I caught your name."
Goro: (smiles) "I'm Goro Akechi, a student and amateur detective."
Goro: "More or less."
Junko: "Man, shut-ins really are something... To be unrecognized by any high school boy, no matter how much society has collapsed is..."
Junko: (hammy) "Yahoo~ I'm Junko Enoshima! Super High School Level Gyaru! The Ultimate Fashionista!"
Junko: (cutely) "It's been great to meet you, but we gotta go! There are friends waiting for us!"
Goro: (confused) "Hold on. You seem surprised that I don't recognise you. Not to be impetuous, but I feel the same way."
Goro: "You don't recognise my name or my face and I can't seem to remember you either. Could that be a coincidence?"
Junko: (ominously) "It's no coincidence the two of us are both here. It's no coincidence we both have no knowledge of each other, despite our achievements."
Junko: "And it's definitely not coincidence that I'm having the time of my life right now!"
Junko: "Now hurry, Sherlock! We're missing out on the cast introduction thanks to your pointless questions!"
(She drags him outside.)
Goro: (mentally exhausted) "Very well. I'll let you do the talking, if it's quite alright with you."
- Room 511 - Intro:
Room # 511
BGM: Retired Precious Moments
Hitsugi: "This is a joke, right?"
Hitsugi: "Finding out a game was actually a portal to another dimension and stopping Mother Cluster and Earth Guide were bad enough. This is ridiculous. I bet Enga's already looking for me right now. Stupid brother, always worrying about me. Knowing him, he's probably packing his rifle and contacting Oracle."
Hitsugi: "Looks like I'm in a hotel room. An abandoned hotel room. That explains a lot. But it looks too nice to be abandoned... Better check out the halls."
Hitsugi: "Eh? I thought I left it in my room. Maybe I can get help!"
Hitsugi: "All I got are textbooks and What's this?"
Hitsugi: "Greek mythology?"
Hitsugi: "Erinyes and the Trojan War? Somebody must have accidentally left it in my bag. They probably were studying for a final on these. When I get back, I should find the owner."
Hitsugi: "Right, time to explore this place."
(She leaves.)
- Utility - Intro:
Utility
BGM: Retired Precious Moments
Parker: (Ugh, anyone catch the plate on the bus that hit me...?)
Parker: (Alright, keep calm Peter. You've been in the dark plenty of times before.)
Parker: "Hey, is there anyone else in here? Hello?"
Adachi: (groggy) "Yeah yeah, I hear you loud and clear. Sheesh... no need to yell."
Parker: "I'll just assume that means you're not some devious villain. They usually love a line like that; it gives them a chance to start monologuing."
Parker: "Is there a light switch over there, or would that be too convenient?"
Adachi: "A light switch, huh? Let me see..."
(Adachi searches but stumbles, crashing into items.)
Adachi: "What kind of asshole just leaves people locked in a dark room? Is this some kind of sick joke?"
Parker: "You must be new to this."
Parker: "This seems to be what is commonly referred to as a villainous plot, although some people like to call it a dastardly scheme or a nefarious plan, and people who pull them aren't usually known for being nice."
Peter: "I think I've just found the door anyways, so maybe we can--"
(Someone opens the door from the outside, and they leave for the Hallway.)
- Hallway - Meeting Aleka:
Hallway
BGM: What a wonderful xxxxx!
Monika: "504? That mean's I'm next to the storage room. Huh. Maybe there's a pen or something in there... Or even a piano!"
The polite smile was not returned. Instead, the person standing watch in the elevator's front just glares back with empty, cold eyes. She does not seem to appreciate being ignored by Monika, but it also seems as if she hadn't expected any other sort of reaction. She simply lets the girl go her path...
Megaira: "..."
Once Monika came to the storage room, she would find it unlocked. Inside, the mess of items would be daunting to clear through. If she flipped the light switch, she'd find it broken. How frustrating. A source of light would sure be convenient for such a search, wouldn't it?
Monika: "Well, that was to be expected, I suppose."
Monika: "You're not going to tell us the rules of the game until everyone is here, are you, miss?"
Monika: "Because I'm willing to bet we need to go down, but you won't let us, am I right?"
Monika: "Oh, sorry, I'm being rude. What's your name?"
The expression of the woman in front of the elevator remained the same. Only her eyes moved slightly to accommodate for meeting Monika's.
Megaira: "Rules?"
Her voice was somewhat raspy and deeper than one might have expected from someone so short with such a mass of curly hair.
Megaira: "I'm afraid you misunderstand."
She went to explain.
Megaira: "Where you stand is a world without rules. You may do and say however you please. However, should you wish to leave this floor..."
She glanced down the hallway before continuing.
Megaira: "Show me that you are in possession of one of the golden keys, and you will be allowed entry into my domain. This elevator is the only place ruled by my laws. I have nothing else to say to you."
Monika: "O- Ok, well, I didn't mean to be a bother. I mean, it's not like you're the one who trapped us here or anything."
Someone is sitting on a chair at the westmost end of the hallway, watching Hitsugi leave the room intently and curiously. Yet, that person doesn't speak or approach her.
Hitsugi: "Why do I get the feeling I'm being watched."
Hitsugi: "Hello?"
Aleka: "...Oh!"
The girl leaped out of her chair, surprised. She stared at Hitsugi for a few moments, before carefully taking a few steps forward. She seemed curious.
Aleka: "...So you are another person! I wasn't really sure. I didn't know there were other people aside from me."
Laughing softly, the girl began to smile.
Aleka: "That's so nice! Now I have someone to talk to! You can't imagine how weird it is to be talking to yourself all the time... Oh, unless you've been doing that too?"
Hitsugi: "Guilty as charged."
Aleka: "Heh heh...!"
The girl with the apple laughed. Clearly, she found Hitsugi to be very pleasant company already. With interested eyes, she came in closer to her, mustering from head to toe once again.
If Hitsugi took a closer look, she would surely notice the golden apple in the girl's hand, gleaming and glowing.
Hitsugi: "Huh."
Aleka: "So, that's what another person is like...? I like it! And... oh!"
Monika: "Hello! Are you guys also trapped here?"
Hitsugi: "Another person? Hey, over here!"
Aqua: "...So it really isn't just us...!"
Altogether, there were 5 people now gathered in the hallway like this:
The young woman with blue hair, known man, the man in red known as Miles, the red-haired girl named Hitsugi, the girl with the ponytail called Monika, and finally, the girl with the apple,
who had tan skin and pale blonde hair. Four women and one man. They stood grouped together, exchanging looks.
The girl with the apple seemed more curious than ever. Her eyes wide open, she made surprised sounds, as she skipped around the group, eyeing each and every member.
Aleka: "Oh...! There are so many people...?"
She seemed surprised and fascinated.
Aleka: "I did not know that! Umm... Let's see... So we can all speak to each other easily... I know! I'll tell you all my name, and you'll tell me yours! Is that okay?"
BGM: Raindrop Caffé Latte Instr.
Aleka: "I am Aleka! It's nice to meet you! When did you start existing?"
She asked that question in the most nonchalant way, as if it were very natural to her.
Edgeworth: "...when did we start existing...?"
Aqua: "Existing...?"
Monika: "Aleka? That's a nice name! I'm Monika. Uh, just Monika will be fine. We don't need to use last names or be super formal or anything like that. Uh, what do you mean by exist? Because I'm 18, if you're asking how old I am."
Aqua: "Well, my name is Aqua. And I---"
Aqua: "...I am about 30 years old... I think..."
Edgeworth: "My name is Miles Edgeworth, though just Edgeworth would be fine. I am 27...By chance are there any stairs? I would prefer not to take the elevator."
Aleka: "What are stairs?"
Edgeworth: "Well...Stairs would be...a way to move between floors without having to use the...elevator..."
Edgeworth: "...! Are there no stairs in this bloody hotel?!"
Aleka: "Come to think of it... There used to be something like that here! Yeah, I'm pretty sure. But that's not anymore now. I mean, that's just how it is. Things start existing, then they stop."
Aleka: "Like you! You guys are here now! I think that's much better than those stair-things! Right?"
Just as Miles Edgeworth finished his introductions, two more people came run down the hallway, adding to the group's numbers. A nicely dressed teenage man with brown hair and a girl of similar age to him, with pink hair and an eclectic dress style.
All together, they were 7 people now. All standing together, exchanging introductions and information. The mood was strange, especially after the things Aleka and Monika had said.
Monika: "Do you mind if I borrow that apple after everyone's done introducing themselves? I think I need it to use an elevator. Oh, yeah, just so everyone here knows: The woman by the elevator won't let us use it without a golden key, and that apple is the only thing I've seen that's golden..."
Monika: "Plus the lights in the storage room are out. If anyone has a flashlight, that would be super. Sorry if I'm rambling, I just think it's important that everyone is informed, haha!"
Hitsugi: "Wait, what was that about an elevator?"
Hitsugi: "How the hell does that make an elevator work? What kind of elevator runs on apples?"
Aleka: "Oh, that apple... I don't know if I can give it to you. I've had it always. All the whole time I've existed. I've never tried putting it away."
Aqua: (A golden 'key'...? Could it be... No, I don't have any keychains that would do that to my Keyblade. Maybe it really is that apple? But how can an apple be a key?)
Aqua: "I agree, an apple as a key sounds pretty strange... But where I come from, we have a saying. 'Let your heart be the Guiding Key'.
Aqua: "I think we should trust Monika's intuition for now. She seems to be pretty sure of what she's saying, so it might be worth a shot."
Aqua: "Aleka...That was your name, right? Would you please give us that apple?"
Like that, Aleka got lost in thought.
Aleka: "Hmm... I can try. But who should I give it to? I mean, there's so many of you... Well, Monika asked first though. Oh, but she also said you're all gonna need it, right? Hmmm..."
Hitsugi: "Hey, Aleka, are you all right? You're kind of spacing out on us."
Aleka: "Hm? Oh, yes, I'm fine! I just can't really decide who to give this. Hmm..."
Monika: "Actually, you know what? One of you guys can hold onto it. Either Hitsugi or, uh, you."
Monika: "I need to keep my hands empty anyways. I'm actually looking for a writing utensil if anyone has one! Writing poems helps me calm down in stressful situations... Oh, right, I forgot to mention that! I'm the president of the literature club at my school! Gosh, I'm being really forgetful today. Maybe it's whatever knocked me out..."
Junko: "M-Me? Taking something so important-looking? No way! I'd probably misplace it in like a minute. Silly me!"
Junko: "Maybe HE should have it! Akechi just told me he's a great detective! I'm sure he'll have all of this figured out in a sec."
Hitsugi: "I don't mind holding on to it."
Aleka: "Hm, but there's other people who could want it too, right? Like, like... That person over there! Or that one... Oh I don't know all your names yet. That makes it only harder to decide...!"
Aleka: "..."
Our poor Aleka seemed rather confused. She kept glancing back and forth between Hitsugi and Akechi. Who should she give that apple to? She just couldn't decide. It seemed so impossibly difficult a quandry to her. An unanimous decision from the others might help her.
BGM: Retired Precious Moments
Hitsugi: "And president of literature club? I was voted student council president at my school and we sort of have our own gaming club. Things got hectic during spring semester but it's calmed down now."
Monika: "I'm assuming that none of you remember how you got here either, right?"
Hitsugi: "Wish I could say I remembered but I got nothing. Ended up here in one of the bedrooms."
Aleka: "Hm? Why, is that weird? I think when you start existing, it makes sense you just have to start out somewhere?"
Aleka: "I started out on the second floor myself! That's where the restaurant is... Oh, I know, we should all go and have some food later! I've never had food with other people before! It's gonna be fun!"
Hitsugi: "The second floor...?"
Hitsugi: (And there's a restaurant too? This is a really fancy hotel. Are we in Las Vegas or something?)
Aqua: "Excuse me, but I'm a little confused... Monika, Hitsugi. Do the two of you know each other?"
Hitsugi: "Aha, no we don't. I thought since she was head of her club at her school, I thought I'd bring up mine."
Hitsugi: "Besides, I don't think I've seen her around on Tensei Academy grounds before. That's the school I go to."
Hitsugi: "Her uniform is definitely not the sister school's either."
Aqua: "Hm... That's odd."
Aqua: "Didn't she just call you by name? 'Hitsugi'... But I could swear Sir, um... right, Edgeworth here and I arrived before everyone started introducing themselves.
Aqua: "And I'm sure I hadn't heard your name until she said it..."
Aqua: "Unless that's not actually your name..?"
Hitsugi: "Ma'am, I've been born Hitsugi Yasaka my whole life. Besides, Monika and I were the first ones out in the hallway."
Aqua: "Oh... I see..."
Aqua: (I guess they must have introduced each other before we came out then...)
Monika: "I don't know. Hitsugi's name just sort of... came to me. Like some sort of intuition, or maybe even inspiration? Maybe we've all been trapped here for a long time and we've had our memories wiped over and over. So I met Hitsugi on a previous loop!"
Hitsugi: (shocked) "Time loops?"
Hitsugi: (Hell, anything can happen at this rate. Time loops could very well be a thing. Monika could be right for all we know.)
Hitsugi: "Anyway, let's fix this. My name is Hitsugi Yasaka, I'm a student at Tensei Academy in Japan. I'm student council president and uh, former member of Mother Cluster. Make that ex-member since it disbanded."
Monika: "... By the way, about that apple. I think Akechi taking it would be perfect! If he's a detective, he can save all of us in no time flat! Just like a Sherlock Holmes story. I hope you're a little nicer than Mr. Holmes, though. I changed my mind, we should give him the apple! Everyone agrees, right? We should make decisions as a group after all!" (laughs nervously.)
Monika: "Oh there I go again, trying to be a leader! Like I said earlier, I used to be a club president, so I kind of do that without thinking..."
Goro: "Well, a democracy can't possibly be wrong, right? I'm willing to take one for the team if that is what you all would like."
Goro: "Perhaps we can call this a trust exercise. Or does that sound too corny?"
Goro: (thoughtful) "That said, I do think we should conduct our own investigation before we make any decisions."Poor Aleka, however, was still confused.Aleka: (frowning) "Hmm... So... I should give it to Akechi...?"
Aleka searched the others' faces for objections.
Monika: "Yes, you should absolutely give it to Akechi."
Aleka: "Well, if you all think so, then it's probably okay..."
She is about to give him the apple. If nobody objects now, he'll receive it.
By the way, the noise from the Utility chamber was quite substantial at this point...
Monika: "I'm going to go check on that, so tell me what happens, like if Akechi turns into a snake or anything!"
Hitsugi: (thoughtful) "Did she say turn Akechi into a snake? What, like that thing's cursed or something?"
(She starts reading in a book from her bag.)
(Meanwhile, Monika opens the door to the Utility. Spider-Man and Adachi stumble out.)
Parker: "Hey, do you know about any supervillains, criminal masterminds, or other such bad guys around here?"
Monika: "... I don't think so. Everyone out there seems pretty on the level. There is a kind of surly woman by the elevator, though."
Monika: "Oh, it sucks that the lights are turned off in here too! It's the same way in storage room. Anyway, you should come out and meet everyone!"
Hitsugi: "Holy cannoli, you look like you popped out of a superhero comic."
Just as Monika opens the door, allowing two more people to join them all in the Hallways, Aleka hands the golden apple to Akechi with both hands. The trinket's smooth golden surface immediately gets blemished with fingerprints the moment he touches it. This is massive gold, no question. It's too heavy to be merely platted. Close to the apple's stem, there is an inscription. "ad fidelissimorumque" it reads. Just what could that mean?
By now, the group has attained what must be its final size. They are 9.
The tan girl with pale blonde hair, Aleka.
The red-haired girl who seems currently busy studying her personal literature, Hitsugi
Monika, the girl with the ponytail
Goro, the Detective now holding Aleka's apple
Edgeworth, the man in the red suit.
Aqua, the youthful-looking woman with distinctive blue hair.
Junko, the eclectically dressed, strawberry-blonde.
A man in a red mask, which hides his face.
And another man with a crocked tie and messy hair.
As they'd soon learn, the later man's name was "Tohru Adachi". But would the masked man give away his name? That seemed less certain. After all, his secret identity was rather important to Peter Parker. He was always quite worried about what would happen to his family if anyone learned that he was, in fact, the super hero known as the amazing Spider Man.
The 9 stood together, discussing their situation.- Topic 1- What to do next?:
Topic 1: What to do next ?
Edgeworth: "Everyone, I think we shouldn't be so hasty. I wish to get out of here as soon as possible, but..."
Edgeworth: "We all seem to be strangers here in this place, brought here without knowledge of how we got here. I think it is safe to say we may have been abducted in some way."
Edgeworth: "I believe the...detective is right. It is best we get our bearings here first and foremost, to give this floor a full investigation. There may be something we are overlooking. For example..."
Edgeworth: "I appear to have been able to keep my briefcase, but not its key. There may be something in the utility and storage rooms that we may be able to find.
Edgeworth: "Plus, there are a number of other rooms on this floor. We may find others like us. However it is that we arrived here, the answer is certainly not an ordinary one."
Aqua: "I think I agree with Sir Edgeworth. We might find another way out of where if we go looking, one we haven't thought of yet. After all..."
Aqua: "...There's quite a lot of doors around here. And we all have to have gotten here without noticing somehow, right? Maybe it doesn't have to be that Elevator."
- Topic 2 - Who everyone is:
Topic 2: Who everyone is
Aqua: "Oh, we might want to give the newcomers a chance to introduce themselves. The poor guys don't even know yet what's going on!"
Aqua: (looks at Junko) "You haven't told us your name yet either. Just that your friend's name is, um... 'Akechi', right?"
Aqua: (looks at everyone) "Alright. So, once again. I'm Aqua. These people here with me are Sir Miles Edgeworth, Hitsugi, Monika and... Aleka."
Aleka: "Oh, this is all so exciting! I never knew there'd be so many people to talk to! Hello! Hello! Hello, hello!"
Goro: (dramatically.) "At any rate, yes, my name is Goro Akechi. My friend here said her name was Junko, if that's any help. We've only just met, in truth, but I've placed my faith in her."
Junko: (hammy) "You heard that right! My name is Junko Enoshima! And although unfortunately none of you have ever heard of me, I hope I'll leave an impression soon enough. Definitely seems like this place needs it!"
Spider-Man: "Me? I'm just your friendly neighborhood Spiderman."
Spider-Man: "Small-time superhero and generally likable guy. Did'ya notice the red suit?"
Hitsugi: "Say, uh, Spider-Man. How small time are you because I never heard of you until now."
Spider-Man: "It's all in the name. Friendly neighborhood Spiderman? I get around from time to time, but I usually stick around New York."
Hitsugi: "New York, huh? I've never been there before. Did go to Las Vegas with my bro, though. On a business trip."
Adachi: "You can call me Adachi. Boy, there sure are lots of people here, I'm a bit nervous... Truth is, I'm actually a Detective with the police force. So if you need any help, I'll do my best!"
(He seems annoyed at having to keep up with so many people...)
Aleka waved at everyone separately. She clearly enjoyed every glance another person gave her. She clearly was also very happy to have finally gotten that hard decision with the apple done and over with.
Goro: "Hold on a minute, did you just say you were a detective? What an astounding coincidence that is."
Goro: "Which prefecture?"
Adachi: "Huh? Uhh, well..."
Adachi: "Truth be told, I'm on a leave of absence at the moment. I used to work within the Yamanashi prefecture."
(Adachi glances to the side.)
Adachi: "I was moved around within the department after a while, though."
Goro: "Rough as that may be, I'm sure you'll get back into the swing of things, isn't that right? Maybe this is your big chance to return to the work you love."
Goro: "Being a detective. Come to think of it, I don't believe I caught your name."
(He holds out a hand to Adachi)
Goro: "Goro Akechi"
Adachi: "My big chance, huh? I guess a fresh face like you would say that. At your age, I guess you're another one of the 'natural talents' they keep bringing in."
Adachi: "Tohru Adachi. I hope to see more of you..."
Adachi: (sinister) "Akechi-kun."
I am thou
And thou art I
Thou hast established a bond of the Tower Arcana
It shall still thy waves of hunger and stem thy tides of lust
Goro: "A natural talent. Well, I'm sure there are people who would do me that kindness, but I like to think I'm modest. Maybe I am rather green, as they come."
Goro: "But I'm good at my job. Trust me."
Goro: "You know, Adachi-san, I can see now that I've gotten through to you. I'm glad that's the case. In fact, I'd say this has been quite refreshing."
Goro: (coldly) "I'll see you."
I am thou, thou art I...
Thou hast acquired a new vow.
With the birth of the Tower Persona,
I have obtained the key to salvation
that shall conquer my riven soul
and guide my wavering eyes
Junko: "A leave of absence? That's kinda weird. Police agents in rural areas don't tend to change positions a lot, to my understanding."
Junko: "I know there's probably not much to do on the countryside, but... Letting anyone go?"
Junko: (giggles) "That's not something that happens every day, is it?"
Monika: "Did you mess up a case or were you a dirty cop? Kidding! I bet it was just a budget issue, right?"
Adachi: "Whoa, hold on now! I swear it's nothing weird, OK? All that happened was because of a reorganization within the police force itself. You can ask my boss if you don't believe me!"
Adachi: "Oh man, Dojima-san would be so pissed if he heard me right now..."
Goro: "Now, let's not be rude to our teammate here. The Yamanashi prefecture police have a distinct reputation for thoroughness, not to mention a clear sense of justice. I've been out there on more than one occasion and you'd be surprised by the amount of resources that are pooled into even the smallest of tasks.
Goro: "That's real dedication to all those cats stuck up in trees, haha."
Aqua: "...?"
(She seems to have senses something, but doesn't dwell on it...)
- Topic 3 - The Apple :
Topic 3: The Apple
Hitsugi: (finally finishes reading, looking at Akechi with the Apple.) "Well at least it looks like the Apple of Discord, not the actual thing. Akechi's going to be fine...I think."
Monika: "The apple of Discord? Mind explaining what that is? I mean, I think I remember what it is, but it would be a good idea for everyone here to know."
Hitsugi: "Okay, I'll try to make a summary of it.
Hitsugi: "So, the Apple of Discord was an object from the goddess of Discord, Eris."
Hitsugi: "Eris wrote "To the Fairest" on it and tossed it at the wedding she wasn't invited to and three goddesses fought over it because they thought the apple was meant for them.
Hitsugi: "So Zeus tried to ask a guy named Paris to choose for him and the goddesses bribed the poor guy. Aphrodite won the bribe, by the way."
Hitsugi: "This apple was one of the things supposedly responsible for the Trojan War because Aphrodite bribed Paris with Helen of Troy..."
Hitsugi: "I hope that makes sense."
Aleka: "So, they hurt people over it? But... I don't understand! It's just an apple!"
The story seems to be sending chills down Aleka's spine.
Aleka: "Why would anyone go that far over something like that? Couldn't the just have shared it? People are strange..."
Goro: "To the fairest... Yes, well, let's just keep hoping that Helen of Troy is packed in a box somewhere."
Aleka (mystified): "Hm... Eris..."
Edgeworth:"Detective Goro, does this golden apple happen to have any inscription on it?"
Goro: "Actually, you're not wrong about that, Mr Edgeworth. There's an inscription on it, but I don't think it's the same as in the story."
Goro: "I never picked up much Latin, you see, but I recognise this word here. It's something to do with faith or fidelity, not fairness. Do you think you could give it a try? You look like a learned man, after all."
Edgeworth: "Legal terminology involves plenty of Latin, so I may be able to discern its meaning..."
Edgeworth: "Ad fidelissimorumque... it means "to the most trusted", or something to that effect. You weren't far off, Detective Goro."
Goro: "The most trusted... Why yes, I suppose something to that effect would make sense.
Goro: "It might be that this has something to do with us choosing the apple's carrier as a group. We won't know for sure just yet though, I'm afraid."
- Topic 4 - Babelfish? :
Topic 4: Babelfish?
Goro: "Hm, come to think of it, I'm impressed that a foreigner like you has such a fluid grasp of Japanese. I should really take a page out of your book, haha."
Edgeworth: "... I'm speaking English."
Goro: "..!"
Goro: "..."
Goro: "Just... Just to confirm, what language is everybody else hearing Mr Edgeworth speaking in?"
Junko: (surprised) "...? What do you mean? Is your head okay? We've been speaking Japanese all this time. Even Mitsurugi-san is-"
Junko: (shocked)"...! Jesus!"
(Junko starts laughing.)
Junko: "Okay, I guess that's funny... This place... It's really something, isn't it?"
Hitsugi: "Wait, weren't we all speaking the same language? I could understand Aleka perfectly but- Agh, my head's starting to ache."
Monika: "I've been speaking English. It's the only language I know."
Monika: "And I've been hearing everyone else speak in English too. Well, at least... in a manner of speaking.
Monika: "Maybe we all had some sort of brain surgery while we were asleep and they implanted a translation chip?
Monika: "Or maybe it's just better if we understand each other... after all, I'm sure this would be boring if we all spent the entire time trying to figure out what everyone else is saying..."
Aqua: "..."
(She seems uncomfortable with this conversation...)
Goro: "Hmph, then it's as I suspected. Our meeting here was planned by someone or something far beyond our comprehension, or at the very least mine."
Goro: "We have no choice but to focus on escaping. Maybe that is even our captor's wish."
Goro: "Whoever brought us here did not simply pick their targets at random. Why go to the effort of picking targets from either side of the Pacific?"
Edgeworth: "...!"
Goro: "Whatever the answer, we should get moving. There's no telling what information might be lost if we procrastinate."
Goro: "We must not lose sight of the truth!"
Edgeworth: "... A reasonable conclusion, Detective Goyo, given the clues we have. However, there is still much we don't yet know."
- Topic 5 - Who knows too much?:
Topic 5: Who knows too much?
Aqua: "Some clarification would be nice. Hitsugi?"
Aqua: "You and Monika identified what the apple might be really fast. ... Does that book belong to either of you?"
Hitsugi: "Actually, it's not. It was in my bag when I woke up. It wasn't there to begin with and it had bookmarks on Erinyes and the Trojan War.
Hitsugi: "I thought someone at my school was probably studying for an exam on them and left it in my bag by mistake.
Hitsugi: "The fact we have a gold apple with an inscription like the Apple of Discord is probably more than a coincidence. Almost like someone intentionally wants us to use the book as a guide."
Aqua: (But even if it's not a coincidence, we don't have enough information to figure out what it is, do we...)
Monika: "You should spend some time looking through the the book."
Monika: "Maybe someone wrote something on one of the pages. You should never do that, by the way, but you should never kidnap people either, but well..."
Monika: "The book isn't mine, either. Just making it official."
Aqua: (Come to think of it, Aleka said she had never really let go of the apple, so this might mean nothing to her. She certainly doesn't remember it. And... Hmm. What did she say again...?)
Aqua: "...!"
(She looks at Aleka.)
Aqua: (There's no way... is there?)
- Topic 6 - This Place:
Topic 6: This Place
Monika: "Oh, Aleka..."
Monika: "Do you know the woman by the elevator? I forgot to ask earlier. She seems like our objective, in a manner of speaking."
Monika: "I bet we're gonna find some stuff to solve some of the puzzles here, which if I remember correctly..."
Monika: "The storage room and utility room have their lights out. Sir Edgeworth has a briefcase he can't open, but we need a key."
Aleka: "Oh...? Someone by the elevator? No, I wouldn't know about that! I didn't know people other than me existed at all. And now it's already nine... Huh..."
Aleka: "I used to be able to use that elevator though. It goes everywhere in Hotel Dysnomia... But then, it just stopped working. All the buttons had stopped existing. It was pretty surprising, really."
Aleka: "Hm... But if there's a person there now, maybe that person exists there instead of the buttons now? That would make sense, right?"
Monika: "The woman at the elevator requires a golden key for so- for all of us to use it."
Aleka: "...By the way, I've been wondering, you all seem to want to get down to the lower floors awfully badly! It's all you've been talking about. Is there anything you need to do there?"
Monika: "I need to get out of here, because, well... I was having a very, very important conversation with someone who is very dear to me. At least, that I can remember. You know how funny are memory is.
Aqua: "We don't belong here, so naturally we'd want to leave when we can. That's why we're eager to get to the bottom floor. Or... wait."
Monika: "What are the lower floors like, Aleka?"
Aqua: "And how long... have you been here?"
Aleka: "Oh? The lower floors? Well, there's all sorts of things there. More rooms, for example.
Aleka: "Then there's the restaurants and lounge on the second floor, where you can get food. On the third floor, there's a rec area, loads of fitness stuff and a sauna..."
Aleka: "Oh, and then there's the ground floor! That's where the reception desk is, and also the indoor pool and wellness area.
Aleka: "There used to be something connecting the rec area on the second floor to that part... Mr. Edgeworth called that 'stairs', right? But I think it's gone now."
Aleka: "Oh, also, on the ground floor, there is this huge door, but it's weird. It never opens. I don't understand why it's there, really. Where would a door like that even go?"
Aleka: "I mean... I don't really get what you're talking about."
Aleka seems quite confused.
Aleka: "You don't belong here? You want to go somewhere else? But... where... where is 'somewhere else'? You mean... There's places that are not here...?"
Aleka: "Wait... Did you exist somewhere before here?"
Aleka gasps. The idea doesn't seem to have even occurred to her before. She acts as if the others had just told her that there's life in outer space. A concept that is hard for her to comprehend. The girl is visibly trying to wrap her head around it.
Aleka: "So... There's places that aren't here? And people exist there? Like the person that Monika is talking about?"
She seems curious.
Monika: "I have to believe there are other places."
Monika: "I mean, where else would other people come from? Besides, we're all here, so of course there's other people."
Monika: "Anyway, that big door sounds important, but so does the receptionist's desk. We should definitely try to get there."
- Final Topic - Let's get Investigating!:
Final Topic: Let's get Investigating!
Edgeworth: "At any rate, it would be better if we split up in order to examine this place thoroughly. Since there are nine of us... I suggest groups of three."
Edgeworth: "Groups of three would allow us to explore with someone we're already familiar with, seeing that most of us seem closer to another person already, and also give us the opportunity to become more familiar with one another, step by step. And should a dangerous situation arise... There would at least be a witness present.
Edgeworth: "That said, I would request for Misses Aqua and Aleka to investigate with me."
Junko: "... Actually, there's so much stuff going on that I'm kinda overwhelmed... There's so many new people to meet and mysteries to uncover! My lil brain can't handle it, see? So I'm gonna be Akechi's sidekick from now on. You know how every detective needs their own companion to even be considered worthy competition in the harsh mystery stories market? That's me~!" Junko bowed slightly, still not letting the detective go, and carried on with her ridiculous babble: "Please take care of me, Detective Akechi."
(Hitsugi eyes Junko suspiciously.)
Aqua: "Dividing into groups sounds like a good idea. I'd be happy to help, Sir Edgeworth."
Edgeworth: "Let's begin investigating. We're bound to find clues that will bring us closer to the truth."
Monika: "I'll just go in whatever group is needed, though I would like to explore the storage room!"
Monika: "After all, doesn't that seem like the perfect place to hide clues for an escape the room game? Or escape the hotel, I guess."
Monika: "Did we miss anything before the gang splits up?"
Goro: "Sorry, I didn't quite catch the details of this place. Which of these rooms are for storage and utility?"
Aqua: "Well, let's see... On the map it said that the "Utility" and "Storage" room are in corners opposite to one another. Which would make the Utility that one..."
Aqua: "...And the Storage Room the one over there."
Monika: "Would anyone like to join me in the storage room? It's probably very important that no one goes alone. What if there's a serial killer among us, or a flasher?"
Junko: "Hey, hey, Akechi! Can we investigate the storage room first? There's something I'm looking for, and that'd probably be the place to start."
Junko: "You don't mind if we tag along, do ya? You seem like the responsible, reliable, big sister type."
Goro: "Yes, that should be fine. We don't really know where to search for clues yet, so we can begin anywhere."
Goro: "If that's okay with you... Monika, was it?"
Monika: "Yep! You guys seem like you'll be great partners to explore a dark room with!"
Monika: "You know, you're not the first person to say that to me? About being a big sister type?"
(Junko stares at Monika intently.)
Junko: "It's no wonder! I have an older sister myself. What an utter disappointment. If she was more like you, she'd already be ruling the world!"
Monika: "I know what you mean about disappointments, but... Have you ever considered that ruling the world isn't that much fun."
Monika: "Knowing everyone is beneath you would be really boring and a little distressing... Not that I would know! Just guessing from what I've read in books!"
Monika: "What are you looking for in the storage room? I'm still hoping for a pen or a piano. I mean, it wouldn't make sense to not have either of those in the storage room..."
[...]
Goro: "We've spent far too long making idle talk out here. I really think we should get this investigation underway. Junko, could you lead on?"
(Junko, Monika and Akechi leave.)
(Aqua follows after Edgeworth, they leave.)
Aleka: "...!"
(Aleka follows after them.)
(Hitsugi turns to Spider Man and Adachi.)
Hitsugi: "Guess that leaves me with you guys. "
(Adachi has not been paying much attention so far. He only now focuses on Hitsugi, barely.)
Adachi: "Oh, uh, I guess almost everyone already went somewhere, haha..."
Adachi (mumbles): "Ugh, this is why people are such a pain in the ass to deal with..."
Adachi: "So, if I heard right, we have to find a key or something, right? Or at least that's what everyone else seem to be doing. To be honest, I wasn't really listening."
Spider-Man: "That's the tall and short of it. The elevator won't work without one, so short of jumping out a window we're all stuck up here until someone finds it."
Spider-Man: "And we're already next to the Utility, so why don't we go back and start there?"
Hitsugi: "All right, so utility it is! You guys lead the way."
TO BE CONTINUED!

That's great! Maybe put it in a spoiler so it doesn't take up as much space on the thread.
